Bio :
Hyde Fryberg was the younger brother of Grun Fryberg. Known as the Emerald Watcher, he became the second-in-command of Justice Avengers International. He was the younger brother of Lord Grun (Grun Fryberg) , formerly part of the Green Lantern Corps, now one of the finest members of the Sinestro Corps.

Hyde always dreamed about what it feels like to become the Green Lantern, probably because his older brother get used to be a Green Lantern in that time. On the other hand, he already joined the Eagle Scout from his scouting activities, and learned about technology via Patton Ramzi, who came to Lansing City every summer holiday. He rarely met Grun before; he usually met Grun every Christmas. Hyde lost his sight after there was a chemical explosion near his city. Knowing that Hyde was blind in that time, Patton—with the help of the second Doctor Mid-Nite (Beth Chapel)—operated on him using hi-tech ocular implants; at first, he almost doubtful about doing this, because it's the first time he used one of his technologies for other people, but afterall, it went successful.

Many years later, there was a rumour about the disappearance of Grun Fryberg as one of the best members of the Green Lantern Corps. People around Lansing believed him dead, but it didn't stop Hyde for finding the truth of his missing brother. It continued until one day, when he was sleeping in his house, a strange green light came, formed a shape of Grun himself, and said:

"My brother, you've been chosen!
You have an ability to overcome fear!
You shall receive power, brother!
The power to bring justice to this far-flung section of space!

You do not believe me, brother?
You think me some errant delusion?
Then feel my power!"

After all, the light disappeared, and Hyde finally realized that he should followed his brother and step into his own future. Wanted to ensure that what Grun said was right, he stepped into his own room and found a mysterious wooden box, and when he opened it, there was a Green Lantern power ring inside. Hyde tried to wear it, but a light projection of Grun told him to stop wearing Grun's ring, and Hyde immediately put the ring off. Took days for him to get used of this ring, until there was a day when one of the members of the Green Lantern Corps called B'dg came across him to taught him the use of the ring, when Arkillo started making a chaos in Lansing. After defeating Arkillo with his brother's ring, Hyde realized that his look was way too look alike with Grun, thus made the citizens of Lansing thought Grun has returned. Afterall, he asked B'dg to take another alias, and B'dg agreed with his statement, and finally, Hyde took the new persona the Emerald Watcher as to distinguished himself from his betrayed brother.
