Between the wings and the back, there shouldn't use a line to separate them, using shading instead.
(Thought I'm not good at this, just take it as suggesntion >.<)

Actually, I think in this case it does need a distinguishing line, as the skin switches from scales to membrane, it will have some sort of border. Your right, normally you'd just show this with shading, but I think in this case a clear line helps with the contrast.

Mmm... I the use of darker shade and light shade might also work well with the contrast to show the curve. >.< Anyway I do not know aBout it. >.<
