Description The Romanovs, family of Nikolai II, the last tsar of Russia (before they were all brutally murdered in the revolution), in the typical graphic Art Nouveau style of French artist Alphonse Mucha (or, well, as close to the likenesses and the artstyle as I could get).
It's radically different from anything else I've ever done, but... well, why not.

The tsar's daughters/Grand Duchesses (Top to bottom, in order of descending age):
Olga
Tatiana
Maria
Anastasia (Yes, the one everyone knows because of the wildly inaccurate Disney movie)
Portraits in the bottom section:
Tsar Nikolai II, his only son Alexei, his wife Alexandra

Made as a gift for my mother, who is a big fan of Mucha, as well as fanatical about her interest in the Romanov family. She'll probably use this as a bookmark or something.
I know there are quite a few glaring problems with this. The geometry is off because I didn't plan ahead properly (though I managed to hide it somewhat), the colours don't match too well, the little shading I felt like adding is very rudimentary, the faces aren't as recognizable as they should be...

But in the end, I can't say I particularly care about all that. I spent a lot of time and effort on this, and I thought for a good long while that I'd never see it finished, but here we are... So I'm at least going to give myself full marks for determination here.

I love this family SO MUCH. A beautiful portrait and the likenesses are very accurate.

Thank you. Looking back, it's just riddled with mistakes to me, but I did try my best and put in a lot of effort.

Whoooaaaaaaa nice work, man! I love nouveau! Been meaning to try it someday.

Speaking of inaccurate disney movies, Anastasia wasn't actually disney. It's a Don Bluth film. XD But who cares really.

Nouveau does look pretty impressive, but be prepared to spend a good bit of time on it if you do try it. Of course, I did put in 4 characters where usually the focus is on just one, so that made it a bit longer... Well, still, it ain't easy. It helped that I have some good books about Mucha's works to look at.
Oh, and I spent some time looking for symbols and patterns to use that were relevant to the setting, too.

Uh, so yeah, anyway, thanks. If you are gonna try it, I only wish you good luck, 'cause man...

I had no idea about that last thing, by the way. I just assumed 'Disney' because of the style, I guess? But yeah, nobody really cares so I'm sure it doesn't matter. I don't think many people even liked it that much.

Well, Don Bluth used to work for disney, and the movie was made to compete with the disney princess fads.
*Raises hand sheepishly* I like the Anastasia movie. XD I'm aware how incredibly inaccurate it is, if that's the problem. I really like the characters and music, and it's basically just a fairy tale inspired by history. We already have an american one with all the same factors, it's called Pocahontas. XD

Hm. All right, point taken.
And I guess you're right about the Pocahontas thing too. I never thought of comparing them, but both are basically just a really romantic, logic-and-facts-go-out-the-window representation of something that... well, really shouldn't have been romanticized, to be honest.
