Description
God"Who is God?" he asked me
As he sat down beside,
Smelling like his tent and his cot.
"Does he watch from above
The things mortals do,
Like an author seeing his plot?
"Or is he down here now
Marching beside us,
Just yesterday sat in this spot?
"Whether he is up there
Or a grunt like us,
We should think of the things we got.
"Because when I look up
The sky is empty,
But the seat beside me is not."

I dabble in poetry too, but haven't uploaded any of it I especially like the "just yesterday sat in this spot" line. Flows well with the verse. The last stanza, second line sort of makes my brain pause for a second in the flow. That may be intentional though. It's probably due to the choice of words and how they're a bit different than the sound of the other second verses (which are connected either by a subject, "mortals/grunts", or words like "us" or "beside".)
Very nice

I've written very few poems over my life, and only one other exists on the intarweb (unless someone managed to get their hands on the others, which are no longer in my possession, and upload them all to someplace I don't know about).
In the second to last line, it is meant to break the pattern and jar you a little, since it's a reversal on the rest of the poem: up until then, the point was "where is God", but in that last stanza it becomes "is God there."
At least, that's what I thought. As previously stated, this poem happened accidentally. It was not planned. (Should I report it to Planned Poemhood?)

Like I said, I was sitting in a sociology lecture and it just sort of... happened. I had thought of the last stanza about a year ago, and only recently was I able to make a poem to go with it.
But I'm glad you like it! Above all, I mean to entertain.

well it goes to show" you don't have to be a pro to write a good poem" kept it up
