There's something of a specific rule in artistic etiquette. You can imitate a pose, but you're not really supposed to use it in it's entirety. This image is a good example of a perfect pose mimicry. Barring where Sonic becomes Rico, this is line-for-line the exact same picture.
I won't accuse you of overlaying, because I myself am capable of imitating a pose perfectly line for line like this. However, when imitating a pose, it's generally expected to "put your own spin" on it. Change up perspective a little bit, modify the angle at which he's sitting in the picture, change the pose ever-so-slightly. Use an INSPIRED pose, not an exact pose.
This has nothing to do with "copyrighting", but everything to do with artistic etiquette. You're allowed to copy poses perfectly all you want, but that doesn't mean you should. It's tasteless.

I'm going to keep this short and to the point:
"But I could never come up with anything on my own, without at least looking at others' works for inspiration and ideas."
I never said anything about copyrighting poses at all. Just know that you will never be able to go anywhere, whether it be real life or in art, with that mindset.
You are the artist, I've seen you come up with stuff on your own on a few occasions. You simply refuse to. I know I'm only 21, but at the very least, I can say that I never settle for what you've chose to settle for.
this conversation is over. I see it going absolutely no where.

Listen, All I am saying is this dude, you can get ALL the applauds you want, but it still won't change a thing, not to be rude or sounding mean but I just want you to understand is that
You can NOT COPYRIGHT a Pose its absolutely ridiculous. you know why my friend? well, here's an EXAMPLE why. If you were at work or at school, right? and you were doing a pose you normally do In real life, ok? well if your friend next to you say "oh you can NOT do that Pose! I COPYRIGHTED IT!" I know obviously something is wrong there.
Now, Poses on the Internet is the SAME EXACT poses in Real Life, that is why in the Old Days people use to sit on a stool, and the artist paints the person sitting on the stool in that same pose, just like the Mona Lisa Painting.
so what I am Stating is a Fact. Rico is absolutely doing Nothing Wrong, and what hes worried about is that he hopes he didn't explain about copyrighting poses on the wrong note/wrong idea.
so Please, respect other peoples ideas and work. There is only a limited amount of poses in the world. Now have a Nice Day dude. I can Respect about other peoples opinions but I don't like how people try to use that opinion to get attention.
Its Poses, you can't copyright it, its simply impossible. :/

Ok, at least I know your not trying to get attention, phew. (Sorry, I see most people on DA trying to get Attention on some stuff but at least its not you since I know you on Kinomi's Chat room)
but I was just stating the facts to you and only limited amount of pose ideas, you know? that's all I was trying to say.

You never said anything about copyrighting poses? I thought this was all about that.
**sighs** -__-;
...Look, I don't want us to end this on a bad note thinking negatively of each other, so all I can do now is that I'll take what you said as food for thought and words of wisdom, and try to take what you said to heart. OK?
And when I said that I can't come up with anything on my own without looking at others' works for ideas, it's not completely true. Some of my ideas were 100% original, but just some. I should not have said that last part the way I said it. I should have said sometimes I can't come up with anything without looking to others for inspiration. I actually do have some original ideas, but some do come from inspiration of looking at others. I'm sorry to not clearing that part up.
Anyways, as I said, I'm sorry if this is getting off on a bad note, and I'll try to take your words to heart when I draw more.
Even though I'm not 100% original all the time, I try to be whenever I can. That I can at least promise you that.
I'm done.

You still have to give credit given you straight out copied the pose. It wasn't 100% from you, the least you could do was credit your aid sources. Just because not everyone does it doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. People are required do it with base art all the time.

Really? I didn't know that.
Well, as I said, if people want my to give credit, I will. But I still say copyrights poses is a selfish and dumb thing to do. Sorry, but I just don't think it's necessary, as it is possible for two artists to draw up the same pose on their own. That's been my motto since forever.
