The Beholder Class Super Scout / Torpedo Cruiser, is a design by yours truly...Beware the "Alpha Strike"Someone said where are all the original designs...Well here ya go. A tribute to my friend, Rich Morris' web comic [link] where one of the main characters is a beholder.
Forgive the high registry, it's the date that the comic was first posted (29th of May 2006).

Intriguing design, I like it ^_^
Question, however: is there any specific reason that there are four deflector dishes or is it merely aesthetics?

Well it was because I wanted a "beholder" looking ship. But some scouts, and research cruisers (TOS, anyway) tend to have multiple dishes, with one as a standard defelector. And the others as "power sensors" And I ended up with a Super Scout (an actual Starfleet designation), that also qualifies as a Torpedo Cruiser.
