Originally commissioned in 2284, the Constant-Class was originally classified as a destroyer to supplement the Saladin and Akula-Class Destroyers in the late 23rd century. As of the 2360's, Starfleet outfitted them with more up to date tech, propulsion and weapons to help supplement the armada with threat of the Borg.
