It's a shame that Paramount didn't go through with something like this, The concept art for the U.S.S. Kelvin shows it as being very white, having a hull that wasn't too detailed, and with a glowing red bussard ramscoop and a brass deflector dish, but the producers clearly opted to go another direction. Still, what ended up in the film wasn't as bad as the new Enterprise.
