Β Sure, the configuration isn't identical, with the nacelles flipped, but the arrangement of the engineering, main hull, and neutronic fuel containers are very similar.

Yup...It's a nickname. Been around for ages. Like the Agamemnon being "Aggie", the Franklin being called "Big Ben", the Enterprise being called "The Big E", or the Bonaventure being called "Bonnie"

If that particular ship had a nick, I can't find any reference to it. As it only ever flew the one time, I doubt it ever got one. In fact, my guess is the name itself was originally a nickname, for the ship. And that it just stuck as a name.

Is this an adaptation of the design from J. J. Abrams' movie? (I decided not to see the half-assed "reboot that's not really a reboot." I did see 'Into Darkness', though badassdigest.com/2013/09/11/hoβ¦Β later made me feel regret for supporting lunatic conspiracy theorists.)

I'm pretty certain the design was around long before STXI, but it was adapted for use in the film. I remember seeing a few versions of this that pre-date 2009.Β
