Description
The Saladin Class Destroyer from Franz Joseph's Star Trek Tech Manual. Canonity of this vessle is still debated. Though Joseph's designs are disavowed by Paramount, the ship's schematic (directly from the book, I might add) was seen on screen on the Enterprises background bridge moniters in both "Wrath of Khan", and "Search for Spock".Related content

As far as I'm concerned, all the Star Trek Manual classes counts as canon. Hell, there are even TNG descendents of all designs except for the Ptolemy (Entente/Galaxy-X and Freedom)!

Not sure if I'll do a TMP class called Saladin, as there is just so many ships already posted that would qualify.

Yeah...This one was one of my first ortho posts. As you can see, I dropped the ventral and aft views. It was just taking to long to do.

According to Paramount. And the rule is you can't have an odd number of nacelles. The classic tech manual came out before that statement. Paramount has done it's level best to distance themselves from that book. But have used pages from it in those two movies, listed above. Then there's the kitbashed ships for the battle, and aftermath of Wolf 359. Some have 1 and 3 nacelles. And the alternate Enterprise-D from "All Good Things..." had 3.
And thank you. I'm glad you liked it.

I looked it up a while ago and it said something about the two nacelles being sort of compressed into one.

The original in-universe reason was that each nacelle housed only one set of warp coils. Two sets were needed to create a working warp field. It has since been established that each nacelle houses two sets of coils, so one nacelle can in fact produce a working field.

LOL! I remember this one! I always called it the "USS Pogo" or the "Pogo Class Starship" do to it's single nacelle.
