Description
The Skaro Class Automated Destroyer/Scout is a design by me. And is based off of the Dalek saucers of old.The Skaro Class was an attempt at making a fully automated ship. And was also made a test bed for a new type of warp engine. With no lifeforms to worry about. Starfleet Engineering incorperated the "nacelles" into the saucer, itself.
Though capable of carrying a small crew. The ship is fully automated. Relying on a dual computer core, and a small host of maintenance drones, created by Davros Industries, known as D.A.L.E.Ks
The ship is the only one of it's kind. As the over logical, and literal nature of the ships computer, caused it to be a liability. And the engines were too unstable, and tended to make small time jumps nearly 10% of the time. May consider later uses in time exploration, when the technology becomes more reliable.
D.A.L.E.K.
Drone Automated: Linked Experience and Knowledge.
Drones assigned to the Skaro Class, to be used as maintenance, internal defense and to exterminate any unauthorized or hostile lifeforms.
Programmed with the ability too learn and adapt, each D.A.L.E.K. is also programmed in specific task abilities. Such as basic maintenance, scientific research, engineering and security. With one Supreme D.A.L.E.K. to coordinate assignments.
Starfleet believed that the new automation technology would surpass Daystom's failed M5 computer. One Admiral was quoted as saying: "What could possibly go wrong?"

Several mistakes in your design and the name.
1. Any test ship is designated as NX, not USS which is a active duty vessel.
2. For a warp capable ship you will need nacelle's, not a single ship in that era would be capable of doing this without nacelle's by canon lore or extended lore. Even more advanced species have nacelle's for warp capable ships.
3. There are clearly no impulse engines either, which makes this a ship that can't move at all unless towed, pushed or falling.
4. Federation drones never had the size of this saucer, which is a common Enterprise type saucer. It would even be highly impractical to make this work in the first place. If you don't have a crew, you won't need that space at all.
5. A drone does not need windows, decks or a bridge. Without crew these things would be rather obsolete and a waste of materials.

It's also a cross-over ship, with classic "Doctor Who". And was done tongue-in-cheek. That being said...
1. Yes. It was, at one point, an NX. Though, it was only ever a one off, due to the problems that arose (see description). Admiral Davros, the man in charge, of the project, wouldn't let his baby die. So it stayed "in service".
2. Those blisters, around the saucer, are the warp nacelles...Again, this is a tongue-in-cheek, cross-over design.
3. That thing, at the back, that looks suspiciously like a primary hull impulse deck/warp core dome, is...Oddly enough...The impulse deck/warp core dome.
4. When you have all those warp blisters, you need the space. Also, sometimes there's a small crew, aboard. For occasional observation purposes (while in system, as the integration of the warp blisters, would make this a hazardous undertaking).
5. You should read up on the Daleks, from "Doctor Who". They have a command structure, and utilize command decks/bridges, on their ships...And even some have windows...And if you want an in universe reason...Read the bit about a small crew, from point 4.

I apologize for him on his behalf Captain!
Nice work! and I like the story element tying the two franchises together.

ย Well, at least they didn't give her any torpedo launchers, though perhaps the drones should have been programmed to first stun and capture unauthorized lifeforms, rather than killing them outright (which doesn't seem to represent the ethics of Starfleet or the Federation anyways. Plus it also smacks me as just wrong in the same exact way as the fact that Area 51 security can arrest and fine, if not outright kill you, just for wandering onto land that they've claimed, even land that was once public, until they convinced the government to make it private, even if it isn't anywhere visually or physically near the base itself, which seems to go against the ideals that I feel this country was founded on. I know that this is supposed to foreshadow the possible creation of the Star Trek's version of the Daleks (at least until some certain ship and crew stop them. If only for the moment), but this is an issue that I feel doesn't receive anywhere near enough attention, and I do occasionally rant to let off a little steam, if it is sufficiently, if not outright relevant.), and then return them to the nearest Starbase, so Starfleet personnel can decide what to do with them. Now, if they are trigger-happy Romulans, or blood-thirsty Klingons, well then, they have no one but themselves to blame if someone gets hurt or disintegrated!
ย I just know that one of these days, the Skaro is going to start acting strangely, and some Saladin or other patrol ship is going to be sent to investigate, and the boarding party sent to correct the problem is going to come under fire from these D.A.L.E.K.s as a consequence.

Awesome crossover ship!
You know that ship is going to go crazy (like a lot of Stat Trek supercomputers) and EXTERMINATE!!! So Capetian Kirk and a strange alien only called the "Doctor" team up to stop the ship. As the Doctor it trying to reason with it to stop, Kirk cause to computer to blow up with a logic-bomb. The Doctor would ask Kirk how he did that, and he replied "I.. Don't know? All I did.. Was.. Too.. Order a cup off.. Coffee!! And it... Blow... Up!!!" (Kirk is so good at taking down supercomputers, is any wonder he is able to keep his own ship running )

Malcadon In reply to captshade [2008-11-07 20:34:20 +0000 UTC]
The drones would not looks as impressive as the Daleks from the BBC shows. They might look like a striped-down mic boom with small antenna and some squally-lights - much like a that prob-thing that striped Uhura of her memories. And they would not sound as raspy.
They should just throw in Harcourt Fenton Mudd in for good measure - like the Q in the TNG, Harry Mudd's appearance is always memorable!

if i remember correctly didn't they once try to make the ship fully automated in TOS and it went bad and tried to kill the entire crew ..... aside from that concern its an awesome concept and i like how u brought back the classic UFO shape in a futuristic setting

Yup...That was the Daystrom M-5. And it didn't try to kill the crew. But DID cripple, or destroy the 4 Constitution Class ships, it was in a mock battle with. Only the M-5 forgot it wasn't real.
And thanks!

Nice. I didn't recognize the crossover at first, because I never really watched the old Dalek episodes.
Are all those blue wedges the 'nacelles'? No wonder those were unstable. Always trying to push the ship in all directions at once.
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
captshade In reply to BDSb [2008-11-06 01:05:25 +0000 UTC]
Actually they're stable in tha way. Creating a prefectly spherical warp field, and acting as a gravitonic navigational defletor as a side effect. The instability comes from the shear power, and proximity with each other.
