Description Officers of the 'General Drozdovsky' Rifle regiment, posing for a photograph, during the Russian Civil War, 1917-1922.
The 'Gen. Drozdovsky' regiment (later division) was an elite unit of the Volunteer Army of the Russian White armies in the south.

I made this for the 1820's-1960's Vintage Feeling Contest: [link]

Wow I just realized that Russian uniforms don't change that much.

They really didn't; for the whole of the 19th century (and probably longer) the Russian infantrymen used the exact same heavy overcoat in moderate to cold weather, and the sexy peakless caps they would wear until the end of the Russian civil war were introduced during the Napoleonic wars. Also, those shoulder board epaulettes they are still wearing are as old as those caps, over 200 years.

Oh okay. The reason I say that is the uniform these men are wearing look like the m35 uniform and the hat looks just like the soviet peaked visor cap.

Their poses exactly match photographs from the war. Very observant, and nicely drawn. I have found that sometimes searching "Russian Civil War" on Ebay yields interesting old photos a lot like this, and those can be a good reference, as well as just good to look at.

Thanks; Besides some portraits in an Osprey book, I used this picture [link] as main reference.
Those photos are indeed usually good-looking.

Unfortunately I'm not able to see the link. But the Osprey books are very nice. Despite my not owning any (I find they are a bit overpriced for the small amount of materiel in them), I have looked through their Russian Civil War books (as well as others) many times.
