Description This was taken in the Wasdale Valley on the shoreline of Wastwater Lake, looking towards Great Gable on a late Autumn evening, where it was actually dark except for the light of a half moon and the stars. Night or day Wastwater is an endless source of photographic opportunities. This photograph is an experimentation on my part. In that with the camera set to bulb, on a tripod, with cable release I triggered the shutter then walked the shoreline giving the clumps of grass that you can see a quick flash from a torch, just the clumps of grass, then the pool of water in the forefront the same. The rest of the scene being visible is down to pure luck of the length of time the shutter was open. Which was a pure guess on my part. The stars you can see in the sky which have started to trail due to the length of exposure bear witness to this was actually a night time shot.

I thank you very much for viewing this work, it is not the best, wont win a daily deviation, and you may indeed not like it at all, which I will fully understand. I place this photograph here, on this occassion purely for myself, as the process of taking it and wondering what the result would be was fun to do. Which for me is what photography is all about, having fun, whether the shots are good or bad, wither way, theres always the memory of taking them, and the learning that comes from studying tthe final results!
