I live in a highly populated area and to me that looks "shopped" but, I'm a city slicker.
So, is that real?
Does the sky really look that beautiful in the country?

Certainly not "shopped" and it is 100% real. You can see this with your own eyes well away from light pollution but the colours and details really pop out with the use of a long camera exposure like this. To the unaided eye, the Milky Way looks like a diffuse grey/white glow stretching across the sky.

Wow....that's amazing.
Too many lights around here.
I'll have to look on my next vacation.

Beautiful. Unfortunately here in Sydney we don't get to see all this detail due to pollution and city lights. Well done.

I've never seen the sky that clear. And I've been to desserts and mountaintops.
