Description So it seems my computer saves when ever it feels like, and so I had the paint again a third time. As if the second time was frustrating enough.

I updated the picture again, the bike breaks, hoods, stem, fork spacers, fork cap, head set and Zeal's shorts have been painted. I'm leaving the fur for last since that's feels like the hardest thing to do for me. Just so you know the bike is being lightly referenced from a very old cellphone picture, the pose is not. The pose is all me; also I reshaped his eye's because they felt too small and look a little strange when looking from a distance. I still have a few more things to do (i.e. bike frame, wheels, tires, fur, etc.)

I've been looking at this picture a lot (from a distance) trying to figure out what he could be looking at that has him so captivated, motionless and based on his facial expression... speechless. ANYWAY! To Anthro-Nexus Critiquers... please download the full image to view all the details and there are a few question I would like answered below. There is a water mark but, I've tried to make it small enough that it wouldn't obstruct the details of the picture behind it. I hope it doesn't hamper your ability to give a good critique. Thanks in advance!

Q1. What do you think of the way I drew the pose? Anatomically, does it look right to you? I welcome redlining

Q2. What do you think of the painting style? Could you suggest any way to improve my technique/output quality?

Q3. The line art is pretty choppy, mostly for the character; what do you think of them? Should I continue sketching the line art by hand or avoid the wasted time and go straight for the pen tool?

Q4. Lastly, I put a lot of time and effort into the eyes and face. I was attempting to avoid an overly broad, bold and serious look, but with a hint of interest or concerned attitude. Do you think I've reached this point? If not, could you suggest as to why?

Q5.Do you have any questions about what Pulsar's, Mariinian's, or Raites are that I did not cover in the literature portion in italics below?

What are Pulsar Bio-Gen Mariinian's?
Pulsar Bio-Gen Mariinian’s, otherwise known as Pulsar’s, are a breed of genetically altered humans who have been carefully selected by both Human and Mariinian Government, and Societal specialist. They serve as human-kind’s gradual assimilation into Mariinian society by performing as diplomats, emissaries, ministers of political affairs, civil force for federal and local government as well as developing in a social environment within Mariin’s community. Ultimately they serve as international buffers. Human’s who have been selected are given a choice and are not forced to participate in this development, however, the alterations are only one way transferable. But there are rumors being spread that a reverse treatment has been found...

Pulsar’s are identified by an occupants iris’ that pulse with light briefly every few seconds. This ability is uncontrolled until the final changes have taken effect; usually the thickening of an occupants bodily fur. The colors of the rings change as the occupants develop Mariinian traits; altered skeletal, muscular structures and enhanced senses are only a few of the physical changes. The color of the occupant’s iris’ change from lime green yellow, bright yellow orange to sapphire blue purple swirls; the final changes are known to be specks that glisten when a Pulsar’s eye’s pulse. The physical alteration times vary from person to person but usually take two months.

PS. I just realized how often I use the cat faced emote, and it's a lot.....

Anyway, I'm done for the night... it's 6:10am and I finished Zeal's hair, face, and parts of his clothes. Mind you this is all on one layer with another layer for swatches. Oh and I didn't really use the smudge or blur tool... just a whole lotta color sampling here and there.

I blew up parts where i thought you'd like to see the detail of the picture. Just so you know the left bottom picture is a crop of Zeal's right sleeve (left since we're facing him); and the eye's inner iris has a swirl. The swirls rotation don't match each other, the left eye's swirl spins to the left, while the right eye's iris spins to the right. That's one of the physical side effects of Pulse Bio-Gen. Human Alteration procedures. A friend asked me a few questions about Mariinian's and Pulsar Bio-Gen's. Zeal is a Pulsar Bio-Gen Mariinian or better known as a Pulsar.

Beautiful!
Sorry to hear you had to do it a third time Must've been very frustrating. But it still turned out very very nicely. I love what you did with the eyes. The Swirl effect was a nice touch along with the two different colors in each eye. I find it really brings the face/head alive now that there is color in it.

Another thing I love is the detail in the shirt. The wrinkles are done very well, and honestly I find it really shows character. It tells us that it's been used, and that Zeal isn't just a Mannequin. Well done

I think the only thing left to suggest is to color your sock

Thank you.
Yeah my computer has been acting up on me, though at least I was able to save this one completely. I thought about what you said for the eyes... I did three quick concepts in PS and the swirl won me over, so I used that. The two-toned eyes are still the same from the text I wrote you in our last note, the only thing I couldn't really do (no matter how hard I try) is to get the glistening specks in his eyes. Still, I think they look fine.

Haha, you like that huh!? Oi, I think I spent like an hour or so on his left sleeve just trying to blend colors without the smudge or blur tools (probably should have to speed the process up), although, using those tools removes some of the personal touch an artist gives a painting; that's what I think. Yay! Zeals not a mannequin!

LOL the socks, oh yeah... the socks.

It's true there's alot of black used in this so far, but you have alot of brighter colors to balance it out. However I would change the eye color. Be nice to see something else besides contrast in the face But I like how everything else turned out. From the clothing choice to the Bike and it's decal. This would really suit a Profile ID for you mate

Yeah, there's a lot of dark tones, though recently they've been brightened up with highlights. I'm pretty open about the eye color at the moment. Uhhh... what color did you have in mind? Cause I was thinking about using either green-lime, yellow-orange or some kind of blue-purple. Also I think I may have to go back and change the size of the eye's. I was aiming for realism but now it just looks funny.

Ahh, about the changing of the eye color... there's a reason for that... in my universe there are three types of races; humans, anthro's (known as Mariinian's) and another I'm still working on a proper name for... but their not living creatures. Anyway, humans who have decided to be genetically altered to "fit in" with and live the same lifestyle as Mariinian's are identified by the solid colored double rings of their eye's iris. Though originally human, they are now allowed to be part of the Mariin society (as apposed to living on levitating sites like the humans do). Much like our world the humans and anthro's are plagued by racial problems (though that's unrelated to the topic). A few of my OC's are genetically altered, including Zeal. Let me know what you think... for both the eye color choice and the story behind it.

I'm glad you like the outfit and various details about the picture.

Guess that explains why your characters rarely have an eye color

Interesting Idea. I actually kinda like it, especially the fact that people can have a choice. But I'm assuming by doing so, there would be some sort of discrimination from the deserted side (like how most humans would probably feel about Zeal, becoming a Mariinian).

Overall, that would make some rather interesting concepts for a story, mate. Do you have anymore lore thought up yet? And by "Levitating Sites" you mean cities like Gekirou?

Yes, I do have more lore and no, not like Gekirou.

I'll send you a note or should I post it as a journal? idk.
