Description
This is intended as an entry for the ID contest at MobianMinistry [link] , a DA club for Christian Sonic the Hedgehog fans. It was inspired by Matthew 6:19-21: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” In other words, it’s better to put more stock into spiritual things (as Sonic is) than material things (as Rouge is).On another level, the picture can just be a contrast of Sonic and Rouge. They’re both free spirits who live life by their rules, but Rouge puts all her energy into the pursuit of jewels and material goods, while Sonic seems to enjoy life without worrying about those things. In the end, I sense that he’d be happier.

Yeah, I don't quite think of Sonic as a shallow guy. He's gotta have a lot of heart to want to save the world all the time. He could be using his speed to win races, make money, and gain prestige, but he doesn't seem too interested in that.
Amy is supposedly spiritual, but with that crazy tarot card stuff >_<.
I think Sally would be, and even Bunnie. They have so much strength and heart as well.

Thanks. I doubt we'll actually see Rouge have a change of heart. One thing that bugs me sometimes about the Sonic characters (in the games, anyway) is that they're kind of static. It seemed like we saw some character development in Sonic Adventure and not a whole lot since then. Then again, I haven't played several of the newer games since Sonic Heroes so maybe I'm not qualified to make judgments.

Thank you. That's part of the overall effect I was going for. Does Rouge even have friends? From what I've seen, she acts cordial towards people when working with them and flirts with Knuckles a little but that's about it.

Hmm. Interesting take. It might be interesting to note that while Sonic, too, collects gold and jewels, they seem to be only a means to an end (the golden rings either giving him a significant burst of speed or keeping him alive when he's hit, depending) rather than an end to themselves.

Thanks. I didn't initially think of that but it's right. And it's means to a good end because he usually needs the rings or emeralds to fight whatever evil he's fighting. For a guy who's painted as being pretty self-centered and independent, Sonic does a lot to help others. If he was a real person, there would be institutions named after him. : P

I was just going to drag you through the muck about... Okay, I'm not going to do THAT. : P I noticed that the tail feathers on the dove aren't all uniform length. Sonic's body looks a little think from the side, but other than that, it's pretty darn good.
