This is my entry for a contest held by kazy86We're supposed to draw her wild west hare heroine Zoe and Zoe's flicky bird Rube in a situation. We get bonus points for including Zoe's feline sidekick Kayla and devising a color scheme for Kayla.
Zoe's profile [link] mentions her fear of spiders and heights, so I tried to work that into the situation.
In the picture, Zoe and Kayla are far from home on a jungle adventure, swinging on vines over a ravine. Kayla's vine has just snapped and she is falling towards a sinister spider (my character Anansi) and his web.
The picture looked better on my monitor. When I view it on other monitors, the dark parts are darker and some details are lost. For example, Kayla's dark grey hair looks black and blends in with the background. If you care to mess with your monitor, it probably looks better on a brighter setting.

OMG this is a realy awsome picture.
For one you gave them a realy cool situation to be in cos it shows both thier personalitys which is exactly what i wanted
i love the colours used and the expresions, Kayla looks very scared but we all know Zoe will help her ot of this webby situation.
but what intrests me most of is how you've managed to work though this and put alot of thought and plot in to the idea, it's very Satam sonic and i realy like how that feels

Niiiice! I knew this was gonna look great colored, but I dare say now it looks fantastic. Anansi looks so very menacing and it really does give a nice feeling of frantic peril. Oh, whatever shall happen to the poor girl in that giant web. Excellently done, kiddo.

Wow, thanks very much. That's exactly what I was going for. To help the "frantic peril" part I was trying to create a sense of vertigo. Anansi is fun because he can function as a "monster" or just as a strange person, depending on the situation.
