READ BEFORE COMMENTING! Do me the courtesy and I will tell you how this came to be. I don't really care for any ship that isn't Lin Beifong based (besides Bopal) I admit Korrasami being Canon was a shocker to me but I didn't really have a problem with either. (Her being with Mako made more sense to me though). Anyway, my niece however is a major Makorra fan and she posted a Makorra pic of Mako with Korra instead of Asami, and she got attacked by Korrasami fans. Like YouTube mean comments and I had to spend an hour helping her get over it. You might have gotten me to convert if I knew about it in season one but they attacked my family, it got personal. I made this to cheer her up when she was upset, watched season one and thought the idea was funny. But I don't care for Makorra but I HATE Korrasami. All the fans I run into save like two who I asked about it bit my head off for even mentioning Makorra in their presence. I am sick of these dumb shipping wars, let's just be friends. If you are a nice Korrasami fan who doesn't have an issue with Makorra hit me up, I just want to talk about ships without bias. I will block any negative comments btw. funny thing is... if you think think the rabid Korrasami fans are bad, you shoulda seen the Zutara-Kataang flame wars. Those things were legendary in their ability to actually completely destroy forums (come to think of it, it's probably a lot of the more rabid Kataang fans that're being assholes to anyone who ships anything other than the canon pairings).
You know what pairing I woulda liked to see though? Ghazan and Ming Hua. I mean, it's even alluded to that they were attracted to each other, and Ghazan DID say Bolin got "two out of three" right.

Makorra....Korrasami....The one true ship is Bopal. I feel I would have more respect for crack ship parings if the reasons were not so damn random. "OMG he looked at that dude a certain way in one episode only he MUST be totally gay for him." Like....really?

That's the story of so many things today. Whenever I see two guys or girls being friends in a movie or tv show everyone jumps on it saying they are gay for each other. It's very frustrating, especially when it translates into real life and people think I'm a lesbian because I'm close friends with a girl.

Oh I had been willing to accept it, but I loath it now. I have a few Korrasami loving friends who are understanding, but for the most part it seemed like you either liked Korrasami or you were a homophobe. That's a pretty heavy insult to throw at someone for not liking a ship. The whole shipping war is retarded. Both Makorra and Korrasami were sucky as far as having any real development or substance, and even if Nick did give them the freedom to do a bi relationship, they still wouldn't develop it because as far as relationships go, they forgot how to do it after AtLA.

On behalf of Nice Korrasami fans, I'm sorry you and your niece had to go through with that. I am a big Korrasami fan, but I was never a Makorra hater. I honestly did not know the relationship would go the way it did, so I had my own happy little universe where Korrasami happened. Now that it's canon I don't know what to do with myself. Sorry, rambling about my own personal experiences. Had one fan who rubbed me the wrong way no matter how hard I tried to be reasonable with this person so I understand your frustration. I would like to see your niece's work. Even though I am not a Makorra fan, I can still appreciate good artwork. I'm not a fan of MLP but I don't hate it unless they try to use it to cute up Mortal Kombat. There is a guy out there who does both cute up and some good hardcore stuff. The cute stuff scares the crap out of me. So no, I won't hate someone cause they ship Makorra. Besides shipping Korrasami, I also ship Linzenma which is Lin Bei Fong, Tenzin and Pema. Nice happy triangle. Mostly based on some pics I saw of two of the three at different times. Tell your niece she shouldn't have to put up with the crap of Makorra haters. There is a Korrasami fan who supports her.

Thank you for being another Korrasami hater. There's hardly any Korrasami haters since the ship is super popular and a lot of people like it. Korrasami made no sense at all. It was rush to me. I agree her being with Mako made more sense. There romance was way better and it wasn't rush to me. It took time for them to fall in love with each other it wasn't boom were in love thing because that's what I thought about the whole Korrasami thing. Your niece is a hard core Makorra fan? So am I

I only thought Book 1 of The Legend of Korra was good. The writing after Book 1 in my opinion was awful.

I can't help but concur. The writing was so sloppy afterwards. Why? What happened to Bryke?! There were interesting ideas in book 2-4 but nothing was ever implemented well. I still love the show and Korra but I can't ignore the heavy flaws.

I've only seen the first couple episodes of this series and didn't make the time to watch it, but I do agree that the story I've read up on felt rushed and alienating... like George Lucas. As for pairings other than canon, I know that society in it's entirety can't be pleased and when someone tries to please everybody will only be left frustrated in the end. I'm sorry your niece had to go through such heavy cyber bullying. It doesn't seem to matter what group people belong to, everyone is capable of being a putz. I hope you and your niece are having a better time.

It's just hard to see the good in it when the bad fans seem to outnumber the good. And being worried about the results of having an opinion that isn't theirs is why I posted this in so few groups. My niece is a little spit fire and gives as good as she gets but despite a tough guy act, insults stick you know?

I felt the same way about Makorra and Zutarra fans a while back but after I calmed down and cleared my head I realized that even thought I don't like those pairings and even though there are plenty of rude people in the fandom (and in general Life) to not paint everyone with that opinion with the same brush. Yes, words hurt. They can hurt for a long while, just tell your niece that it doesn't matter what some rude jackasses say, they don't matter, there are plenty of people like you who do matter in her life and they don't act like some rabid fans.

I do agree with you and it was such a shame that the show was turned a180 and caused such a rift and division between fans. It broke my heart and I'm sure many others too. I'm a Makorra supporter, but even I would have been okay with Korrasami if their relationship would have developed more, been worked on more instead of it being such a slap in the face. I'm not such a supporter of this being in a cartoon show, but it was handled so sloppily, so rushed. It could have been done so much better. I'm sorry your niece was attacked, it was a shame. I think this has turned into a popularity game because if you're not with them, then you're not "cool" and you're a homophobe. Sad, really sad, and I hope your niece is doing well.

Took the words right out of my mouth, and the creator's response to the Makorra shippers was....shocking to say the least. I took offense to their Makorra criticism when they clearly set them as a pair for three and a half of the four books then say that they weren't doing that. Actually a fan made and amazing AMAZING response to this. It was such a professional and unbiased scolding which actually brought stuff I missed to my attention. Yes, I did hear about the creators' response...saying that Makorra shippers only watched the show through "hetero-lens" and such and subtly calling anyone else who preferred Mako and Korra homophobes. Seriously? If someone enjoys and admires a man and a woman in a relationship and like to see it portrayed in shows and movies, they're homophobes? I've met and talked with gays, I've been friends with gays, and even though I prefer and admire the depiction of a straight relationship, that doesn't mean I hate gays. I don't.

I completely agree and to be quite honest if it wasn't for Lin Beifong I would have stopped watching the show during season one. Lin kept me watching but it was like pulling teeth watching that romance, pro bending, Korra sulking in every season. I was just so disappointed in general. I think the only ones I truely enjoyed watching was the Gaang's kids generation (and Bopal...all Su's kids except junior) I just wish they had done what they did in AtLA, less high school drama and angst and more character development. Adventures as friends instead of fighting with each other. I know I sound a little brash liking LoK but getting bored watching Korra herself.... I can't watch it the same. I always think of that lame ending, shipping wars, and the creator's nastiness.

I skimmed it over, and although I didn't read it all, I completely agree with what was said. I may not have been a big fan of Legend Of Korra (but I LOVED the first Avatar series), but even I was completely flabbergasted at how this turned out and what this did to the fandom. It caused such a division and nastiness and that's what hurt me the most. Now everyone wants or feel pressured to be a Korrasami fan because they're afraid people will call them homphobes, and that it's "cool". That's no what the show was about, but sadly, that's what happened.
