Description
The Hierokerux is a mystery even to its most devoted followers.

It is the messenger and herald of Ptoliboros, an extradimensional city that exists outside the constraints of space and time: a Piranesian nightmare of paradoxical geometry, endless staircases and labyrinthine, vertigo-inducing structures.

It is a dangerous and unpredictable entity and those who treat it like a demon, a spirit from the underworld to be summoned and bound, die in very unpleasant ways. But those who can touch its alien mind without losing their own find the rewards immeasurable; the Hierokerux has access to infinite knowledge and will share it, if doing so serves its own unfathomable purposes.

It may also grant a servitor creature, usually one of the winged Nyctopterons that inhabit (or infest) Ptoliboros, if the petitioner's plans help further its own epoch-spanning agendas.

The Hierokerux can appear in any guise it chooses, but will often adopt the mantle of a godlike winged entity with blue-black skin, almost angelic in appearance, save for the mass of writhing tentacles below its waist. Its true form is beyond the comprehension of human minds, twisting and writhing in impossible ways that are both repulsive and alluring.
