"Call me Vesper. I am messenger and spy for my people, the Calvalunae. I am the one who spends the most time in the city above, keeping my presence secret through a combination of magic, guile, and stealth. The humans who live here are a complex and confounding species to me.

On one hand, I am drawn to their bustling, chaotic lives, filled with endless possibilities and endless dangers. They are a fiercely intelligent and adaptable species, capable of great kindness and great cruelty in equal measure. They are a constant reminder to me of the fragility and resilience of life, and I cannot help but be moved by their struggles and triumphs.

On the other hand, I cannot forget that it is the humans who have hunted and persecuted my kind, forcing us into hiding and denying us the freedom to live openly. I have seen first-hand the lengths they will go to in order to maintain their dominance and control, and it fills me with a deep sense of anger and frustration.

Despite my ambivalence, I cannot help but feel a connection to the people who inhabit the city above. They are a testament to the strength of the human spirit, and I am constantly amazed by their ability to overcome obstacles and rise to the challenges they face. Even as I watch them from the shadows, I am filled with a sense of admiration and awe at their tenacity and determination, as well as a sense of sadness at what might have been if things had been different."

The Calvalunae, or mooncalves, are the offspring of witches and demons. Despite their monstrous appearance, they are not inherently evil and fear humans as much as humans fear them. They inhabit a hidden underground city called Noctis beneath the streets of London.

Inspired by my love of the Tempest and the movie Nightbreed.
