Description
What becomes of these gorgeous tails, anyway?I imagine the 'armor' as an extension of his skeleton, hence the design. The older he is, the more skeletal he becomes. And these ear-like things are more like horns (Bulbagarden says they're not ears), but they might contain some brain appendages (everything must have some function). And so Alakazam reminds me of Satan, and I really want to draw his head inside a pentagram ^_^

Maybe it's as natural for them to lose a tail as for tadpoles. Kadabra might need a tail to help it stand upright as its legs grow weaker (like a kangaroo: I'm sure the tail remained thick like Abra's and only grew a lot of fur), or to use it as a blanket. But Alakazam relies on psychic powers for literally everything, what use would it have for a tail?
