Thank you for creating this tutorial. I was just looking up some colored pencil tutorials for skin tone, as I've always struggled with that and had not yet found a good tutorial for that. This looks excellent, and I can't wait to try this method out. Thank you so much.
On a somewhat related note, I went over and peeked at your gallery, too, and you do /amazing/ work. Beautiful!

Yes, it is extremely helpful. The only thing I have to get over now is coloring skin seven times so I can work out how to get the process right (dunno why seven, but that seems to be the magic number of tries ).
No problem! You completely deserve the compliment, and thank /you/ for creating such beautiful works!
Thanks!

I have only started using coloured pencils again so this was somewhat helpful though i am not the owner of Prismacolours, may i ask you are they really better cheaper pencil crayons. I have always been curious about them but never had the nerve to buy them...

Hello Well, out of all the professional grade color pencils, Prismacolors are one of the cheapest brands out there. You can get them in open stock at Dick Blicks for like 88 cents to a $1 a piece. You can also get them on ebay in sets, for some pretty good prices. As for some cheaper brands that aren't professional, there is Prangs and Crayola. They are fine for beginners. They don't match in quality and of course are not light fast, but for starting out I think they work just as well.
However, if you are really serious about working with color pencils, I highly recommend you purchasing a professional brand. You can check out the several brands available here at my site [link]

Thank you for taking the time to get back to me, i am serious and are currently looking to see what is out there for me but i live in the UK so they always have to be imported which makes them much more expensive. But i will take your advice thank you very much

You might check out ebay over there then, they do have some good prices on sets. And I would recommend then Derwent Coloursofts (a lot like Prismas), Lyras or Faber Castells, much easier to obtain in the UK, just that they are a little more expensive than the Prismacolors. You should be able to buy them in open stock at art stores over there, and just slowly build up a set of them. A little less expensive in doing it that way. Best of luck!!

skin tone has always been the bane of my existance, many a time have I painted by face/arms etc just to get some where near skin tone or coloured in a scrap of paper and held it to myself.....probably why I tend to stay clear away from humans in my pics. thanks for the tut Im sure it will come in really handy!!!

Your welcome and I hope it does.
It can be quite challenging. One thing about this tutorial, you can add really any color to this or take away a color from the list I suggested, to achieve the skin tone results that you want. These are just the basic colors that I use, when I do skin tones.
