Well, this is my first tutorial here on dA. Being a teacher, this appeals to me. lol!Anyway, I hope some people find it useful!

useful indeed, always learning something new lol thank you! i always have problems with the pencil thing, use an 2HB for everything which sucks lol it is the more common pencil i find 1st at hand ..when i go into the details in the sketch they work alright, but when the whole drawing is finished.. all of a sudden theres no detail anymore and it all look blurry
all plain gray, I have no drawing technique, just draw since i'm small and im just learning about pencil , the right paper for drawing and techniques....ok im done lol thank you for this

Softer pencils just give you a greater range of depth than harder ones. Also, it means you can get nice dark effects without having to dig into the paper etc.

hey, I see you are in the UK also... have a look on ebay for a full pencil set, there is a guy on there that sells sets for really good prices!
