Description
PLEASE FULL VIEW!(Scroll to the right half.)
Maybe one day when I'm crazy enough, I'll make a tutorial on the left half of that picture.
HOLY FREAK THIS TOOK WAY TOO LONG. I thought I'd take a nice, relaxing break from my chaotic Anime Expo preparations and have a go at my first tutorial, but nooooooo...this thing is more stressful than an actual drawing.
But seeing that I'm a PS newbie, I'm pretty glad that I was able to at least compile all this together. I guess I picked up some bits of Photoshop knowledge over the year after all. Would be sad if I didn't.
People have been asking me to do a tutorial for a long time now, and I apologize for taking next to forever to get around to it
Compressing 15 painful hours of sweat, cursing, and flinging objects into a 670×7637 pixel tutorial is no easy task. I'm kind of sad that I had to cut like 30 pictures (about 8 steps) off from the walk through. The thing is flippin' ginormous as it is, so I couldn't make it even larger D: And excuse my random doodles. I went a little nuts on the commentary too -_-;;
This is a thank-you gift for all of my watchers and friends online, and hopefully it'll be of some use to those of you who are starting out with markers :>
FAQ's
You can get Copics at local art stores (if you're lucky), and definitely online. Aside from a Japanese bookstore I go to, Kinokuniya, I also order them from online at [link] . THEY ARE NOT CHEAP. They can cost from $4.50 to $6.50 each, so shop smart :>
Manga manuscript, A4 size; I prefer Copic and Manga University brand. You can find these online too.
Lots of trial and error and lots of practice.
EDIT:
Um...holy crap. Another DD?! I never even dreamed of getting the first one. Thank you =AdigunPolack for your suggestion and kind words, and ^znow-white for featuring it! I appreciate it very much!

This will seem like quite a silly question, but I was wondering how exactly you use the manga manuscript paper for your art? Doesn't it have lines marking the edges etc? On your paper it seems clear of the lines though. Thanks! Great tutorial by the way!

I don't suppose I'd be able to acheive the same effect with ProMarkers... I would never be able to afford copics, I can barely afford the £1.70-a-pen ProMarkers. I'm a poor student. But I guess I can keep practicing, and try and learn something from this tutorial, huh? ^^ I need a white gel pen, come to think of it. Thanks for reminding me! 83
I love the humorous touches in this tut. XD It's really detailed and informative.

That is excellent. Don't know anything about the series the art is for, so I can be unbiased.
Personally, I have about twenty-two Copic Sketch markers (and a colourless blender) and my use of them is quite inadequate. I wonder sometimes if my paper isn't an issue, because a lot of the time it seems like the ink actually wants to 'clump'. I can't really think of a better way to put it... Of course, I know also I need far more practice, but being rather poor I'm always nervous to use such pricey markers. XD
Anyway, thank you for taking the time to do this tutorial! Any little bit helps me greatly in such a foreign field as Copic-colouring. xD

thank you ever so much for making this tutorial. It taught me a lot about using copic markers that I haven't thought about before. However, a question just came to me.
Do you plan out which colors you use before you color, or do you use colors as you go(for things like hair or clothing)? I was wondering this because I was looking at your Ouran Host Club picture (the one that you made the other tutorial for) and noticed how you said you had to a bajillion different shades of brown to get Haruhi's hair to the right shade of brown. So, is that a detail that you usually plan or do you wing it XD Thank you~!

I definately define the term: Starving Artist Fund.
Jeez these are so expensive.
But the effect they gave your work...
I would really like a set.
Where can you find them, even marginally, cheaper?
