God I despise Blossomfall. She was a grown cat when this happened, she shouldn't need mommy's attention anymore. The reason why Millie paid more attention to Briarlight was absolutely understandable. But being the immature, unintelligent brat she is, Blossomfall went so far as joining a gang of mass murderers. The worst part about this is that the books made it look like Blossomfall was in the right, making Millie look terrible compared to how she was in the mangas. And the fandom hates Millie for Blossomfall's own stupidity.
Sorry about that little rant, I still respect people who disagree with me, and I'd appreciate a debate.
Your art is great and you have improved a lot over the years!

It's a bit easy to understand. Yes she is an adult but how do you suddenly react to your mother full out ignoring you? It was even to the point Briarlight was getting sick of it. Bumblestripe seemed to just support Briarlight which was nice, but not everyone reacts the same. We don't fully know how strong her relationship was with her mother. Remember technically Blossomfall would be considered halfclan, since her mother was a kittypet. Perhaps she confided in her mother when things got bad. That shouldn't change just because she's an adult. Right before the incident, Millie was yelling at Squirrelflight because she scared Blossompaw.
Blossom didn't really join the Dark Forest on purpose. Reminder the majority of the trainees were taken advantage of. Even Birchfall, who felt he wanted to be the best for his clan.
Millie does seem to overreact. I understand her view, but that's no need to flat out ignore your other children. I can get spending more time with her, but yelling at Blossomfall saying 'you should be doing something for a change' is very rude. Blossomfall admitted she was jealous of Briarlight and ALSO admitted that she felt guilty about it. So guilty that she even says 'I deserve the Dark Forest for being jealous over my sister' This is what does it. She knows it 'silly' but she can't help. It was hard for her to admit.
Blossomfall actually seems close to her siblings. She and Bumble spent time with Briar when she was first hurt, she was upset Bumble chose Dove to train with, and then defended Bumble, arguing with Dove when he was showing affection towards her.
Honestly I think it may seem bratty of Blossom because the books don't really show too much family love. Other than Firestar's family, not even a lot of siblings show affection. I never knew Runningwind was Mousefur's brother, because they never really interacted. Same with Lionheart and Goldenflower. No one knew about Sandstorm's parents, as she didn't seem effected by her parents' death. The books seem to only choose main characters with sibling bonds. This series focuses more on Dove and Ivy, and Jay and Lion. So we aren't given much few on the secondary charries.

Well, when I was 12, my 4 year old sister was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Between one chemotherapy and another, she could sometimes go back home. While she was home, she was still weak, so my mother would pay a lot more attention to her than to me. She kept doing this even after my sister finished her chemos and finally left the hospital, and she would sometimes lash out at me and get really mad whenever I got a bad grade or stuff like that, because she was very stressed and sometimes close to having a breakdown. This obviously affected me and the rest of my family a lot, but it certainly did not make me join a gang of bullies or anything. Sure my mother was not straight up neglecting me, but Millie was not completely neglecting her other two kits either. Not to mention there are lots of character who had neglectful parents, such as Bluestar and Tallstar, and they both turned out fine. Plus, again, Blossomfall was and adult, which proves that she was even more immature and gullible. I am actually very glad that she is guilty of what she has done. A good slap in the face by reality is what she needed.

Millie was never said to do anything with Bumblestripe or Blossomfall. The only time Millie was with Bumble or Blossom was when Briar was dying. Before this, she was never really interacting with her own kits.
It seems really awkward to push the 'well this happened to me and I'm fine' Everyone is different. Crookedstar was flat out ignored by his own mother. And he turned out to be a great leader. And then we have Breezelpelt and he turned out horrible. Brambleclaw wanted to feel some kin relation and some acceptance, pushing the drive to be deputy and following Hawkfrost and Tigerstar. Luckily he changed his mind. People react differently and make different choices.
Tallstar, yes. I wouldn't say Blue turned out perfectly fine, making decisions that resulted in her own kit dying and willingness to let her clan be attacked because she wanted to keep Brokentail in camp. (Honestly Blue was just...problematic but that's for another disagreement~)
Also, as for joining gangs of bullies, the reason people join them is to look for purpose and/or family. Recognition. This is why in real life gangs, people are willing to die for them. They really do feel like they're a family sometimes which is why when it comes to rival gangs, it never stops.
Also, Blossomfall was just made a warrior when Briar was hurt. She was still used to her mother. Millie was very protective over them and for it to just suddenly stop, is hurtful for her.
Anyway, Blossom felt complete guilt and sorry she felt that way, which in my eyes, makes her a good person. She admits her mistakes. It's not like she was went around screaming 'I hate my mom gosh! It's all Briarlight's fault, I'm gonna go kill some pregnant cats' like Breezepelt who will not admit anything and assumes he's in the right because he feels his sadness is more than others.

well you asked me how i would react if something like that happened to me in the first place, so i had to answer. Of course everyone is different, that is why some people are good and others are naive and immature like Blossomfall was. She had plenty of friends and clanmates who did not ignore her. In my opinion she overreacted, and at the beginning, she did hate Millie and Briarlight. As I said, I am glad she changed but there is no excuse for what she did in the past. Also, Breezepelt was neglected because his father did not want him. Blossomfall was neglected because her mother was upset about Briarlight. That is a significant difference.

You're right and I apologize if I made it seem like your experience wasn't bad.
I just don't think her sadness was one of those quick fixes of friends. But I do agree, about the overreaction, but yes, everyone is different. Bumble simply went with the flow and I tend to wonder if that was what pushed him to Dove? (Because at first it was cute but him trying to push about kits because 'lol we're not getting any younger' was kinda weird.)
I can't really fault her for her mistakes if she is truly sorry about it and feels guilty, but that's just me.
Breezepelt is a whole can of worms. And so is Crow, who kinda ruined things for himself, honestly.
I see your point, and thanks for the friendly debate~

Do not worry, you did not make it seem like it was not bad.
You might be right but there is no way to really find out since the Erins did not give Blossomfall much character development.
Yeah i agree that Breezepelt is trash

It's just that i've always had a soft spot for Mille bc the first warriors book i ever read and saw was the third book of the greystripe manga series. I've always wanted to defend her someway.

Fair enough! But the thing is, Millie didn't steal Graystripe. That isn't cannon.
She fell in love without even knowing about Silverstream. Graystripe felt gulity about his feelings towards another she-cat, but Silverstream actually visited him in StarClan to tell him that it is alright to move on, to not dwell on the past.
In my opinion, I'm glad Millie's around. Graystripe could finally live his life with the one he loves and the family he never got to really have.
I also understand that you hate Millie's treatment of her two other kits, but think about it.
1. Millie's not forest born. She had never experienced the sheer dangers that the wilderness had to offer, not until her daughter was permanently disabled by a tree.
2. Millie's a mother. She was mortified and constantly concerned with her disabled child's safety, so worried, in fact, that she could barely leave her side. Your opinions towards Millie's treatment of Blossomfall is justified, since Millie is a lot more absent in her life. But, hey, no character's perfect. She's still a mother to her, though. That scene where Blossom and Ivy escaped from the tunnels, Blossom recieved a lecture from Millie. Millie WAS scared and concerned for her other daughter.
Honestly, i don't think Bumblestripe minded getting less attention from his mother compared to Briarlight, since he has a bunch of friends. Blossomfall, like Ivypool, was taken advantage of by the dark forest, which turned her disappointment about her mother's over-protectiveness for Briarlight, into searing jealousy.

Those are all very vaild responses! I agree that Millie should have spent more time with her own kits. I still like her character though.
I also love Blossomfall and i understand her pain. (not a big fan of Ivypool tho) I like the way you compared her situation to those people facing the same situation.
