Mapleshade still made her 2 moon old kits swim a flood, even after Petalkit said something about the flood. It is Mapleshade's fault that her kits died.

So now Frecklewish can magically swim? She is a Thunderclan cat, and a patrol was already helping Mapleshade. Frecklewish would have just been another cat to save. It's Mapleshade's fault that her kits died, she had other options but she let her emotion rule over the safety of her kits.

You can say the same thing for Oakstar. Do you know how hard it is for a father to lose his son and daughter and a mate? If she wanted her kits to be safe, she would have listened to Petalkit and waited. She could've went to twolegplace, but no she got her kits killed because of her own stupid decisions.

She had multiple opportunities to keep her kits safe, here's a list:
1. Go to Twolegplace (Oakstar only sent one raid, which was during Pinestar's choice, so violent kittypets is not a valid argument.)
2. Go to fourtrees and wait
3. wait for a Riverclan patrol or wait in a safe spot for the storm to be over
4. Raise them by herself
Β I also doubt that Thunderclan would keep track of the river. While banishing kits was awful, he was emotionally driven. This cat who had went along with the rumor that her kits were fathered by his dead son (lying by omission btw) Lied and it turns out that the kits' father was the cat who indirectly killed his son.Β

The only reason Riverclan banished Maplshade was because she got her kits killed, so i highly doubt that Darkstar would banish her if she would have waited for a patrol or went to cross the bridge. Maplshade causing her kits' deaths speaks volumes about her responsibility.Β

I'm not sure if it was necessarily her fault her kits died, but I do believe she could have done it another way. Maybe take one kit at a time. But yeah Willowstar is right, it was kind of Oakstars fault too.Β

I wonder what happened to her kits. They never appear in StarClan or the Dark Forest. And they should really create a super edition on her entire life. It would be extremely interesting and probably my favorite book.
