I mean, I don't think it was ever specified properly? Because the Vikings only ever saw Toothless, so they based all they know of Night Fury's off of him, because what else did they have to base the dragon off of? It was said that the Night Fury's have "cousins" of sorts, where there are other types of Fury's, and she was referred to as a Light Fury. So judging from this, I don't think she's a Night Fury! She's just a different type of Fury. WHICCHHHHHH, super excited about xD Considering the Fury's as Dragons are what, the least known about? MORE INFO YAY.

i'm not sure if she's 100% a night fury (her abilities, colouration and features are very different) and i think astrid referred to her as a "light fury" in the trailer ;U ;;

She could have some sort of mutation (Could be albino or something) or be a subspecies, or maybe Nightfuries can be any color like the other dragons and Toothless was just the only one Berk had ever seen.

Nothing was made "obvious" - she looks nothing like Toothless, and it's intentional.

Really? That's honestly surprising, it was very heavily implied in the trailer that she was a nightfury (Particularly the guy near the end saying he was hunting nightfuries and said he'd hunted them all except for Toothless after he captured her, and the bit of Hiccup saying that Toothless isn't the only one after all.) I mean, same body structure, almost the same head shape, same wings, same size, same everything except for the color. Heck, it showed her using the same plasma "breath" that Toothless uses. The only differences I saw where the slight differences on the head and a different color.
Also, the variation bit makes it seem more like she's a subspecies of nightfury than an actual "Nightfury" but still very, very closely related.

Oh her kind is definitely a subspecies, just like the Sand Wraiths.
And Grimmel ( the villain ) was talking about Toothless when he said he'd hunted them all.
Of course given the similarities, you deffo could confuse the two species.
...especially if there were ever any Leucistic Night Furies before they died.
