I've been watching a lot of anime recently (I just bought the Neon Genesis Evangelion boxed set on the weekend and watched the entire thing in just over a day) and it made me want to draw some. Of course, I can't draw, so I decided to approach it from another angle and do a manip instead.

I did get it. And yes, I think it was worth it, though the last two episodes are a bit meh. The movie "End of Evangelion" is better.

wonderful job... i love the eyes... so inocent ..... great choice of stock as well ... gives it that extra pop.... but we both know she is no angel..... and well if she is send her to me and she wont be any more

I never even thought of the Puss/Shrek comparison. I guess the final result is a little bit CG, isn't it?
There are a few others I know of that do a similar sort of thing - turning real people into something more anime-like. I recommend =psivamp as a good place to start if you're interested; she does very doll-like manips.

The reason I picked the school uniform is that I wanted to make her look like one of those 13 year old schoolgirl types you see in a lot of animes. To do it properly I'd have to learn to paint hair and give her pony tails, but I think it worked out ok anyway.
