Description Yes, I made a new tutorial! This time it's about how scanners work and how I edit drawings in Photoshop.

I know I said I wouldn't make any more tutorials, but I got soooooooooo many questions about this, and it's something I won't be putting in my artbook anyway, so I've been working on this all day long.

And now I'm tired...

Oh well, hope it's useful

Wow thats really helpful.

Cause it is. But I just need photoshop -.-"

How do you use the eyedropper to clean the background?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cataclysm-X In reply to Neitzarr [2008-02-29 12:05:14 +0000 UTC]

you can pick the white eyedropper and click on the background to get a white and equal area

I explained it in the first version of this tutorial, but it got too big so I scrapped a few images and descriptions

I...don't understand how to use the eyedropper to clean the background
Could you tell us more about it?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cataclysm-X In reply to Amazonne [2008-02-29 12:23:08 +0000 UTC]

lol I know it's my fault I scrapped that part when I found out the first version of this tutorial was too big, so I deleted the part about the eydropper tool as well!!

When you want to have a clean white background, you can take the 3rd (white) eyedropper tool which is in the same window as the Levels one. Click on the white background, and voilรก: the background looks pale white

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Amazonne In reply to Cataclysm-X [2008-02-29 19:01:30 +0000 UTC]

great! That will save me so much time...I always cleaned the background with the eraser tool before, it's long AND boring. Thanks a lot for the help

oranges101614 [2008-02-29 01:52:17 +0000 UTC]

i had no idea that was the way it worked...i thot all drawings just look that dark and perfect in the original sketch.

lawl...denial.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cataclysm-X In reply to oranges101614 [2008-03-02 01:02:44 +0000 UTC]

lol they really do, but the scanner lightens up drawings because of the reflection of the light in the pencillines

I use Photoshop to fix my drawings until they look like the originals again

thanks so much for the great tutorials on here, it has really helped fill in some tips and tricks that my art teacher left big gaping holes in learning, although I am mostly self taught. I am looking forward to your artbook, and learning your process of drawing. someday I will master teh pencil, and it will be my slave!!!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cataclysm-X In reply to catgirlartist [2008-02-28 23:59:07 +0000 UTC]

LOL thanks!!!

self taught artists are the best I think the best way to learn how to draw is by teaching yourself!

Chromattix In reply to ??? [2008-02-28 22:28:08 +0000 UTC]

This is pure gold for all those who CAN draw good pictures, yet they miss out on heaps of potential faves since it is poorly scanned.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cataclysm-X In reply to Chromattix [2008-02-28 22:41:48 +0000 UTC]

exactly!!! So many times I came across drawings which were so very well drawn, but the scans or pictures turned out horrible so they got less faves (which is unfair).
