My newest pride and joy!
A double portrait of princess Zelda and Link.
Total size of each drawing:
1" x 1" / 25mm x 25mm / €2.-
Back in the NES era Zelda was the first game I liked to play.
...Good old times!
While Zelda was the last portrait I've drawn in 2011, Link's portrait was the first of 2012. I used two references for the poses, but changed their facial appearances to my heart's content.
I spent about half an hour on placing the eye shimmering with white gel by using a needle. In between every heartbeat my hand was steady enough to press the needle (+ white gel) on paper. But even then I hit the needle 0.3mm too high or too low for about 2 or 3 times, and I had to start all over again.
The pencil in the picture is to show how small they really are. Both portraits were, as usual, drawn with mechanical pencils.
I'm thinking about selling these 2 portraits, so if you're interested in buying them, don't hesitate to send me a note!
:~~~~~:~~~~~:~~~~~:~~~~~:~~~~~:
Stuff used:
- 2H, H, HB, B 0.3mm mechanical pencils
- 2B 0.5mm mechanical pencil
- Schoellershammer natural paper
- kneaded eraser
- 2 reference images
- white gel + needle for eye shimmering
- magnifying glass
Time spent:
10 hours for Zelda
8 hours for Link
More of my miniatures can be found in this folder .

Wow....
I don't think I will ever get my hands to be steady enough to do that, the quality and detail on those are just insane. And the part that they are only 1 square inch makes me just stare in aww...
Amazing work, they both look great as portraits, nice shading, nice details, nice everything.

Drawing Link and Zelda is fun, huh? I find it quite entertaining, especially drawing them with a little more detail than they are originally with a hint of realism.
These two were drawn well.
You probably get a lot of comments; I can see why!

This is sooo amazing!! I cannot comprehend how you draw the details so finely with such little space, but you do it soo well! You drew Link and Zelda sooo perfectly! And I so quite enjoy Link's expression!! You never really see him smile and he just looks so darn hot when he does! Great job!
And who would've thought it took so long to make such small portraits! But it's totally worth it-looks awesome! And also, you're a Zelda fan?! Aren't they just like the best games!
