Yeah but not as a final covering, when that stuff gets moist it turns white again.

I am honestly not sure SD material does well around water to be honest. I guess if you color using permanent marker there might be a less chance of it running in the first place? But you are going to want to do some test runs.

yah, well some of my pieces i've used watercolor which looks amazing, but you can't get it wet or your arm is all rainbowy.

Awesome tutorial, very helpful
One question though, Does it have to specifically be the frosted rough n' ready sheets or can it be any one?

CatharsisJB In reply to Shadow-Wing456 [2011-06-05 20:23:58 +0000 UTC]
There are some that are made specifically to be run through the printer; the white kind won't show the color of the marker or colored pencil through to the other side. It just depends on how you want to work.

Dunno, I haven't used Crayola in a long time. It probably would, though might not go on as smooth as a higher-quality pencil. Thanks!

I'm going to do this when I go to my local art store. My only problem is that the toaster oven is broken and we are going to get another one/. And we use it to make toast, and Its in the kitchen (Or will be.. ) should I be worried? And how bad does the plastic smell? On a scale of 1-10.

CatharsisJB In reply to Shortwinger [2011-05-27 18:52:39 +0000 UTC]
It does have a smell, I don't know how to rate it, it would be different from oven to oven and from person to person. If you use the same oven to eat out of, you should clean it and air it out after you have baked plastic in it.

This tutorial is AWESOME! Does the keychain shrink much in the oven?
Lol, what is mod-podge? XD (Yeah, I'm stupid, I know...)

CatharsisJB In reply to tin-drum [2011-05-16 15:19:10 +0000 UTC]
I would recommend googling Mod-Podge to get the full info.
I don't know what you mean about the keychain shrinking... if you mean the metal, you don't put that in the oven. If you mean the plastic, I think it shrinks to about 1/3 its beginning size.

Would this still work if you printed your work off of the computer onto the Parchment paper?
👍: 0 ⏩: 2
CatharsisJB In reply to Blubble-The-Blubs [2011-05-09 20:19:41 +0000 UTC]
I'm not fully sure I understand... you can't get shrinking effect from parchment paper, the parchment paper is just a clean smooth surface to put the shrink paper on while it bakes.

Sorry I corrected myself after I posted, I meant can you print things off of the computer onto the Shrinky Dink paper?

CatharsisJB In reply to Blubble-The-Blubs [2011-05-09 22:59:20 +0000 UTC]
Sorry, the correction isn't sent to me when you reply to yourself so I didn't see it. You can only print directly on the SD paper that is specifically designed to be printed upon. There are several different kinds so make sure you buy the right kind, and make sure it'll work with your kind of printer.

Might end up too long if it's 3 mins. Just want them in there long enough to shrink, I haven't seen it take much longer than a minute.

Hi, just wondering since you posted this recently, where'd you get the sheets?
I went to Michaels with my mom today and there was the white ones for ten bucks for eight sheets, and I was wondering if there was anywhere else to get them at a good deal or something? ;;
sorry to bother you
Platykey In reply to flowertigers [2011-03-21 05:18:50 +0000 UTC]
No problem . I found the sheets she recommended at Michaels for around 6 dollars (ruff n' ready), and I think you can find them at Joanne's (sp?) too. If you can't find them in a store at a good price, I have seen them at about the price I mentioned online. Good luck!

Late reply, sorry! They're awesome to make! They look nice, but don't take too much time!
Hmm, I couldn't find them at Michaels, but Joanne's(sp?) might carry them. I want to find them too, so if I find them in a store, I'll let you know .
