...erm... does that work in GIMP? b/c I only have that and I have no real need for PS. so it wouldn't pay off to buy it just to try this...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

catieisavampire159 In reply to MIB4u [2009-02-03 04:12:11 +0000 UTC]

i'm not sure.
i haven't used GIMP in a while. does it have modes? like screen and multiply? or the burn and dodge tool or lighten/darken tool? if yes then you should be good to go.

Great tutorials have taught me much of what I know when it comes to Photoshop! But, I am always happy and willing to learn something new!

oh i know. it took me forever to learn how to make good vampire teeth. so many tutorials i had to look at. yes i always love looking at tutorials. its fun. im trying to get into vectoring but its hard.

KlownDogg In reply to catieisavampire159 [2008-09-27 03:12:09 +0000 UTC]

I am getting into fractals myself... They are quite fun!

You do a good job with your vampire teeth, by the way!

catieisavampire159 In reply to KlownDogg [2008-09-27 03:15:57 +0000 UTC]

i have tried. i dont really know where to start so its hard. thats why i like photomanip. its already there for you.

thanks! i use to suck at them! (haha pun was not intended, didn't see it until i reread it) anyway. yeah it took me a while.

KlownDogg In reply to catieisavampire159 [2008-09-27 03:24:11 +0000 UTC]

A friend of mine is helping me learn how to do fractals... She even wrote her first tutorial just for me!

I will always love doing photomanips! I just felt like learning something new... so I started working with fractals... But, I will definitely be doing some more photomanips!

aww that was nice!
i wrote mine for all those who asked me. i got so many questions.

i love maniping. its so fun and relaxing. well except when something wont work!

KlownDogg In reply to catieisavampire159 [2008-09-27 03:47:22 +0000 UTC]

lol! Yeah... when you can't get something to work the way you want it to it can be quite frustrating!

I remember back when I was trying to learn how to do blood... nothing I did seemed to work right! Then someone told me how to do it and it was so simple! I was making it way harder than it had to be!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

catieisavampire159 In reply to KlownDogg [2008-09-27 03:49:09 +0000 UTC]

urgh i know. especially when i cant get the skin to look right or the hair. that frustrates me the most!

lol yeah the blend mode is everything. thats what makes mine look real.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KlownDogg In reply to catieisavampire159 [2008-09-27 03:51:44 +0000 UTC]

Yep! I found the right color to make it look realistic and then it's all about the blending and the burn tool!

Alien Skin's glass filter also comes in handy when you want to make wet blood... like pools of it or big drops!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

catieisavampire159 In reply to KlownDogg [2008-09-27 19:00:25 +0000 UTC]

it doesn't even have to be a realistic color. it can be anything! but the blending and burn and dodge make everything. yes.

really? ive never heard of that filter. what program do you use?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KlownDogg In reply to catieisavampire159 [2008-09-27 19:19:24 +0000 UTC]

I use Photoshop 7... If you are using Photoshop I highly recommend the Alien Skin filters! They have several that I use frequently! In my opinion, Alien Skin makes the best filters out there for Photoshop!

catieisavampire159 In reply to KlownDogg [2008-09-27 19:28:42 +0000 UTC]

ok. i have CS3. is it a download somewhere or did it come with them?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KlownDogg In reply to catieisavampire159 [2008-09-27 19:52:38 +0000 UTC]

Alien Skin is a company that makes filters for Photoshop... You have to buy their filters.. unless you know alternate methods of acquiring things like that...
