Caution-LowCeiling — It isn't always.

Description Just like being being realistic isn't always pessimistic.

In some cases, people abuse positive thinking and will think unrealistically. But when used correctly, positive thinking can definitely help you see what's important and what you SHOULD worry and fret over and what isn't worth worrying and stressing over.

It all depends on the situation.

Positive thinking: Use responsibly.

Positive thinking never helps me, I've tried it never stays and just makes me feel worse about what has happened.

And pessimism doesn't mean maturity. You can accept reality and be positive.

Exactly! I’m the kind to look at the negative side of things but I’m pretty immature, hey my mum said so.

"THE PESSIMIST is commonly spoken of as the man in revolt. He is not. Firstly, because it requires some cheerfulness to continue in revolt, and secondly, because pessimism appeals to the weaker side of everybody, and the pessimist, therefore, drives as roaring a trade as the publican. The person who is really in revolt is the optimist, who generally lives and dies in a desperate and suicidal effort to persuade all the other people how good they are. It has been proved a hundred times over that if you really wish to enrage people and make them angry, even unto death, the right way to do it is to tell them that they are all the sons of God. Jesus Christ was crucified, it may be remembered, not because of anything he said about God, but on a charge of saying that a man could in three days pull down and rebuild the Temple. Every one of the great revolutionists, from Isaiah to Shelley, have been optimists. They have been indignant, not about the badness of existence, but about the slowness of men in realizing its goodness. The prophet who is stoned is not a brawler or a marplot. He is simply a rejected lover. He suffers from an unrequited attachment to things in general."

Positive thinking has helped me out. It's easier to think positive personally because instead of thinking of what could have been, I think of what will be.Ā

I think I'd rather be optimistic to the point of denial than pessimistic to the point of.... total pessimism. It doesn't help in life as much as it's supposed to.

It doesn't help you mentally to think negatively, so I agree. If you see EVERYTHING as sunshine and roses while your world is falling apart, I would think THAT would be "denial". Why worry/think about things that may NEVER happen? You age faster that way. I say this from experience...no denial but negativity for most of my life. Nobody deserves it and it is never worth it.

So, main message: CHIN UP.

Mhm. Like I said, thinking optimistically should be used responsibly. Don't think the impossible will happen all the time, because that's as good as thinking something horrible will happen all the time.

Yes !

Funny thing happened: I got three responses regarding this, from you. They all ended up in my Message Inbox...but not HERE. I think DA is glitching up again.
Now THAT'S "Off Topic"
(And yes I agree with all you said. Spot on. )

Another deviant just said it was glitching on HIM. Same deal but the comments were not going where they belong. Last week as well. DA will fix it.

Thinking positive always helps me when I am in a bad mood. :3

Thinking negative does nobody any good but make them worse.

Same here. Being pessimistic all the time isn't worth it.
