Happy (ever so slightly early) Valentine's day!(Even though I won't be celebrating it myself...)
So yeah... roses. It is completely different to what I normally do and a whole lot harder, but I think it has turned out really good, apart from the second rose. It took absolutely ages to draw though! I think I might do this sort of thing more often.
This is what I'm planning to put in the Valentine's Day Art Exchange (if I put anything in there) and also my mum wanted me to draw some roses anyway, so it's like hitting two birds with one stone really.

some bits are possibly a bit scratchy, but that could just be me- I like everything to be nice and soft
none of my family have ever asked me to draw anything
but they're mainly focused on ella's drawings so.... '-'

Have you ever really tried showing your parents your drawings/ does your sister show your parents her drawings often?

like they'd be interested anyway. i somehow don't think they'd really care about random pen doodles.
and my sister acts like her stuff is nothing, but she's quite obviously showing off. she thinks ofΒ a random reason to show them and then is like "yeah... it's so cute! they're really good!"

That's the thing.
If you don't show them, then they're not gonna know about it. Who cares if they're pen doodles? Show them anyway!
To be honest, I can be a bit like your sister... I mean strangely enough, my parents can normally tell me what's wrong with it (just like in this picture) so it's pretty useful really.

isn't that like coming up to them and being all like "look at these, look at how epic i am" and that would look really really bad because they're not and that'd just be weird. and arrogant. and thoroughly cringeworthy. and like i said, they wouldn't be interested.

Not necessarily. Normally, I go to my parents either when I think something's terribly off and say "Do you know why _____?" or if I think something's completed "What do you think of this?"
But then again, I am weird/ arrogant/ have lost the majority of my dignity so nothing makes me cringe as such.
