UPDATE: GET YOUR EXCLUSIVELY SIGNED 11X17 COLORED PRINTΒ HERE!This is a long overdue post, but Β threw down some super slick colors on my Cheetara/She-Ra pinup last year. Been waiting to get this one colored for a while π. Might be time to do some more Thundercats/MOTU mashups... what do you guys think?

I wholeheartedly agree with the inherent hypocrisy there and how it stupidly influences things we enjoy (particularly in nonsensical ways that most reasonable ppl wouldn't care about). But I've come to terms with how our society is made up and what drives it.
I've found that most ppl (in America at least) are incredibly uptight and repressed on a generational level. And we still haven't come up with a better alternative of coping with that reality other than imposing certain familiar moral & ethical imperatives. At least that's my take lol.Β

Funny how this art of your was typical for a time period (kids cartoons) run by Reagan and the conservatives. And now looking at the She-Ra reboot, we address LGBT+ sexual situations but use artwork aimed at a younger audience. In a time of a progressive controlled media.Β
I also can't get my head wrapped around why anyone would want to use the She-Ra story line with such young kids. But we seems to avoid that issue of service members getting shot at by young children and having to respond with lethal force.Β

One subject is more palatable and trendy than the other for one. Aside from that, adults are the ones that make these cartoons. They were never really FOR kids even going back to Disney & looney Toons shots that first appeared in theaters, that's a marketing thing. But as an artist, I think we all make art for ourselves. We make the art that speaks to us and makes US happy. And if that subject matter that makes the artist happy or resonates with artist happens to fall into any marketable categories (and don't fool yourself, identity politics is VERY marketable right now) then boom goes the dynamite lol.Β
Either way, I think most things have a right to play themselves out. And that includes todays trends with beloved, nostalgic cartoon series & properties.Β
