why would the chains look different ?
Actually chains done in the old age would look quite different from the welded ones we do now, so they would look more like this with simple hammered look, and still there never was a single chain design ;]

It's not about the way they were made, it's about the shape they are in. I don't think there would by any curve at all on those upper chains.

I wonder if Pansejra meant the arms and chains would be pulled straight down with the dead weight of the body making the wrists come together. The skin and veins are done very well.
