Description
This is my assignment for lineart class atCRITIQUES AND ADVICE BEFORE PROGRESS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!! I would like to know if anyone has spotted anything I have missed (have already spotted a few things to change myself)
Bummed - only got a 3
The sketch is for contest - It is me as main character for an RPG game. I am an archer and the magic circles (thanks to ornaments and clothing tutorial) provide me with my abilities. I will elaborate on the completed work.
I used lineweight on the elbow bpulling back the bow, the chin underlin, skirt, boots, belt, buckle, forearm, gloves, hair and nose.
I use brush size ranging from 1-12. However i did this in photoshop as I dont have Sai and had to use a pencil as it was the only thing i could find - the pen tool in photoshop fills it in (i still dont know how to use it properly). Needless to say it is not quite the same, but i did follow the tutorial. I had trouble with the hair, and i have not linearted the individual strands.....

The only thing I think you need to work on is where to apply the appropriate amount of lineweight.
If it's thick material, use large lines. If it's thin, use small lines.
But make sure you keep it consistent for the entirety of the material. (Eg. If her pants are a thick material, make sure all of it is thick lineweight.)
You can also use thin to thick lines to show perspective. You could apply this to the arm holding the bow.
Clothing should ALWAYS have thicker lines than the skin. This makes it appear like it is on the skin not a part of it.
Hope this helps
