"Do you wish to die?"
   Miranda, my client, looked thoughtful. There was no pain in her voice, which seemed odd, considering what she replied:
   "Yes. I think that would benefit everyone."
   "I don't understand."
   "Nobody loves me. Well, maybe they do, but they shouldn't. My death would prove that. They would realize that they have to move on. With me gone from their lives, they could live a full and happy life. I am a huge obstacle in their future, and I need to purge myself from this existence."
   "You look down on yourself too much."
   "No, these are just facts. And that's okay. I have come to terms with my purpose, or the lack of it. I know that I must die."
   "You have already tried to commit suicide, have you not?"
   "Twice. I should have to find a more effective method. It is hard while I'm incarcerated like this."
   "It's for your own protection."
   "I don't need protection. I need to die."
   "I find it hard to understand how you can be so calm whilst you cast your entire existence aside."
   "Like I said, I have come to terms with my fate."
   "What do you think happens after you die?"
   "I don't know. I hope it is the end, that I will not be reborn to hurt other people again. I wish to be gone, forever."

I couldn't talk Miranda out of her mindset. The facility she was in seemed capable to protect her, but how long would she have to stay there? Months? Years? Her entire life?
   I admired the woman's strength. It shone around her like a halo. She could contribute so much to the world.
   Maybe she would, one day. If she could heal.
