Ok before you read this or flame me remember that this is MY OWN opinion and I am not in anyway trying to change yours.
I have NOTHING against anime at all, it is not my favorite but I do not hate it, in fact I do enjoy a few animes such as Wolf's Rain, Evangelion, Hellsing, Excel Saga, and a few more. HOWEVER I am SICK and TIRED of people saying "anime is the best!" "I love anime!" "look I can draw anime!" "anime is so original!" when no one is really saying bluntly that anime sucks and that it is not art. and then I go to the front page of DA and see nothing but huge eyed anime girls with balloon like breasts, nipples the size of salami slices, and slutty clothing with the letters "kya" sketched next to it. All these pieces look as if they were drawn by the same person. I am NOT at all saying anime is not a cool style, it is an awesome style if used properly.
You can look through my favorites and see many anime pictures by artists here on DA I enjoy. What bugs me is when people claim their anime has style opposed to any other anime. Anime is a vast area of art, they're cartoons. People who obsess over anime characters as if they were real need to get out more.
I think if more artist stopped looking at pictures of anime girls or whatever that other people drew and just basically tracing it, and began to develop their own style this place and the art community as a whole would be a lot better.
Also this does not by any means mean I enjoy dogs with huge ears, anime eyes, 'kawaii' features, hair, and the cartoon animal style a lot of people share. This stamp focuses on anime but it goes for all art that needs more stylizing.

Read the description...I get it now. You're right - even if you have a heavily influenced by anime/manga way of drawing, you should develop your own flair to it. That's what I'm trying to do (and I don't think anime is "the best", though there are a few I like).

Sad thing is, most real anime doesn't look the same. (Yeah, Sailor Moon and Hellsing look exactly alike) It's just the shitty fanart that does. It's pretty unfortunate because it really ruins the whole idea of anime for everyone.

Dude i totally agree! I have an original style but when i look up 'anime' on google they're ALL THE SAME! I call my style anime as well, i would just prefer if everybody had a different style!

I read the description and i think your opinion is fair.
When sometimes i look for anime pictures (btw i'm an anime fan) all i get are drawings with unusual proportions, i talk about heads, breasts and all those parts people draw in an exaggerated way. For example theres alot of people that draw women with breasts big like elephants, unbelievable thin bodies and strange insect eyes...i'ts quite annoying.

you know I agree with you... I have a friend who taught me how to draw anime and realizem. I use both those skills when I draw... You have a good point. I'm sick of it too AND I like to watch anime... And people need to start thinking about what they're posting before they do or else they are just going to keep making fools out of themselves. You have many good points. Anime IS just cartoon in japanesse. (i no I spelt that wrong) So would anyone in Amarica (still spelt wrong) call Adventure time or Family Guy art? no. so please people calm down! Anime is not real! But... that doesnt mean you cant go to anime conventions and dress up like your fave character. So please contain yourselves.

I agree with you there. I like anime BUT only good ones. I like Pokemon, Bleach, Street Fighter and I also read a bit of Fruits Basket and Girls Bravo but I also like weston cartoons too such as Tuff Puppy, the old Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents, Family Guy and The Cleveland Show. I'm sometimes a bit fussy about character designs and the anatomy of the characters but what matters a bit more is the story of the show, how good the jokes are and how epic moments are.
I was influenced by anime and it's anime the reason I became a cartoonist but then people like the people in #AntiAnime-Fans made me realise that anime is just something so over-rated and unoriginal. I'm trying my best to draw a more realistic style like oval-like shaped eyes, smaller heads, more detailed noses and realistic hair. I read a Batman comic (which belongs to my bro) and I was amazed with the amount of details and how real it looked AND it's still cartoony.
I sometimes look at the TV when watching Rambo for muscle details and looking at people around me for face anatomy and look at my own hands and feet to get the hands/feet right.
And 'Kya' sounds dumb.

It's okay to draw anime, but there's even different styles of anime itself too! Hellsing and xxxHolic both have pretty unique styles, for example. There's actually a lot of variety in the medium but you wouldn't know that when you see some of the stuff on here (shitty Naruto recolors, I'm looking at YOU!)

I can understand not liking the big boobs and so on, pigs will be pigs (pervs...), however I don't mind it that much, because I mean, I'd rather them draw that then some non-artistic realism. *nodnod*
But personally, I love anime, it's like... my life.
(OK well, aside from the important stuff, eg. family, friends, school, reaching my dream, so I suppose it's only my life in my spare time... my... I don't know... spare-time-life.)
I still haven't yet really found a style I like, so most of the time I'm re-drawing panels from some of my favourite manga volumes, to try and get a sense of anatomy and so on. (I thought that if I learned from multiple different series it'd make a pretty kick-ass style 
But I usually don't post those art works...
Though I've been thinking about it, some of my friends are still interested.
I can see where you're going, but at the same time when I see people re-drawing certain scenes, or drawing in the same exact style, I don't get mad or say you need to get your own style.
Because usually when I see it, they're not just tracing/copying, they're doing it for two reasons (one or the other), one is like me, trying to get a hang of anatomy and stuff. The second, is drawing something you wished would've happened in the original series, and didn't, but you wanna at least... like, make believe it did, so of course you wanna try and stick to the original style with that sort of thing. You know so that others can be like... 'OMG it would be AWESOME if this happened!!!' and so on.
Just my opinion.
PS-My dream is actually to become a manga-ka, so for me drawing anime is like preparing for my job when I'm older.
