Description Yes Lex, it IS a Unix system.
This is File System Navigator, running on Irix 4.0.5 on a maxed out Silicon Graphics Personal Iris 4D/20.

For those who have never heard of this, FSN was first seen near the end of the movie Jurassic Park and spurred on by fans, SGI later officially created and released the program which you now see above.

I remember finding that close to ten years ago now. Looked really cool but kept pushing my Linux box beyond what it could handle.

I searched the real fsn but I didn't find it anywhere. Do you have it ? Is there a way you could share it ?

Huh. It seems to of dropped off the net after the SGI transition. The original download page can still be found but all links are dead. [link]
I have local copies of both versions of the binary but I have no way currently to host them.

You have to first purchase a Silicon Graphics system. Any system newer that 1989 will work with FSN.
Once you own the system you are entitled to one copy of the Irix Operating system through the Permanent Licensing Agreement that the machine uses, otherwise you need to purchase an unbound (not originally included with a system) disc set for $600.
In other words, go to the torrent site of your choice and download a CD set. Do some research to see what specific version of Irix is best supported by your system.

ok, so I cant just burn an iso and boot of the disc by SG system, do you mean i need a Silicone Graphics computer/server? I've managed to find a few different torrents, but if they dont work on my hp laptop, its kind of pointless.. but nevertheless, im interested to know what kind of system specifically i would need.. I would love for my next computer to be capable of running IRIX UNIX thanks for the info!

It's gotta be SGI. No emulation exists for their systems. They also do not use PC compatible filesystems so it's mainly burn and pray.

SGI left the MIPS workstation business in 2006. Everything since then has been running on a mixed breed of x86/x64 and Linux. They also never made laptops.
