Description
It's Gemsona Week over on Tumblr and I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon! Steven Universe has been giving me the feels recently, so this only seemed appropriate.Edit: Pssst! I updated parts of her profile! She's grown so much!
Kya
Gender: Genderless
Pronouns: she/her
Height: 5'2"
Weapon: Key and Chain
Gem Type: Kyanite
Likes: Traveling, discovering new things, sleeping, clouds, peaches, and Humans!
Dislikes: Missing, being unable to control her powers, being criticized
Hobbies: Exploring and daydreaming
Personality: Kya lives with her head in the clouds, always dreaming of new things and places to go. She has an insatiable curiosity that drives her to explore and experience all she can. Like a butterfly she flits from place to place, never settling for long before something new catches her eye. Deep down she hides insecurities; doubts about her usefulness and her strength that were planted there by the harsh criticism of her mentors on the Gem Homeworld. She can become easily frustrated when she can't do something right. She is adverse to conflict and will never attack unless it is absolutely necessary.
Backstory: Kyanite was born on the Homeworld in the aftermath of the War against Rose Quartz and her Crystal Gems as a member of their new army. Gifted with her unique and potentially dangerous powers, the older gems pushed her, trying to train her into a weapon to be used against the rogue gems on Earth. But Kyanite was a gentle soul, more interested in seeing the galaxy than learning how to fight. Frustrated, her mentors took to insulting and degrading her in attempts to make her train harder. Pushed to the breaking point, Kyanite finally fled the Homeworld and traveled the stars, finding things she had never seen before. Eventually growing lonely, Kyanite recalled stories of the group known as the Crystal Gems on a world called Earth. After centuries of searching, she finally came across the thriving planet, instantly becoming enamored with the beautiful places and interesting people. Now she travels the world, free from the people who tried to break her down and now makes her own path.
Fusion Dance: Traditional Folk dances. I don't really know how to explain it other than the way one would dance to an upbeat jig played in a warm tavern on a cold night, or around a campfire in the mountains. The songs that come to mind are Flaming Red Hair or The Dancing and the Dreaming
Fusions:
With Jade: Tourmaline (Other half of trade here )
With Azurite: Sodalite (Other half of trade here )
With Rubicelle: Jeremejevite
With Fish Eye Agate: Dumortierite Quartz
With Fire Opal: Iolite
Kyanite is a fairly young gem whose weapon takes the form of a large key on the end of a long chain that she swings around. The key has the power to tear small rifts in timespace that allows her to instantaneously travel over small distances. The longer the distance, the more of her power it takes. The key itself is surprisingly dense and can cause a good deal of damage if swung with enough force. Her gemstone is on her right arm and possesses a keyhole-shaped facet.
Kyanite has never regenerated, which is why there is still a diamond integrated into her costume. The little yellow star was sown on there by Steven when they first met. No matter where she goes in the world, she knows that she will be accepted among the Crystal Gems in Beach City.

Nice!
Since your Kyanite is gonna "fight" my Citrine in Lemon-Lark`s Steven Universe OC tournament,
I was wondering if we could both draw out how we think the "battle" will go.
It`s ok if you don`t want to, I just would like too see your interpretation of what would happen.

Were you thinking comic, or just a static picture? I'd love to try to do that if I have enough time!

I'm not sure, but both would probably work. I'll probably draw something of it tomorrow (since the results for the tournament will be out on Thursday). When you do get the time to make a picture or comic (your choice) just credit me in the description of it.

Cool! If she met the gems what is their impression of her?

Kyanite would probably get along best with Steven, sharing his enthusiasm and energy for the world. Steven would obviously be excited to meet a new gem and would ask her to tell him all the stories of her travels.
She would be absolutely in awe of Garnet, amazed with her strength and her control. Garnet would treat her a lot like she treats Steven with more of a motherly role. She would see that Kyanite is young and a bit air headed and in need of the guidance.
She would find Amethyst pretty intimidating. Amethyst would probably bully her a little bit at first, but soften up as she got to know her, urging her to use her teleportation powers to pull pranks on the other. Total Gal Pal material.
It would take her the longest to warm up to Pearl. Pearl's more stern personality would remind Kya too much of her Homeworld mentors and would be too scared to talk to her. But Pearl would persist though, asking her politely to show off her abilities and never pushing her too hard. Kyanite's portals would fascinate Pearl and she would be eager to learn more about them.
That's what I think anyway!

She looks like a Keybearer, due to that Keyblade-like weapon, and the fact that she opens gates to other worlds with her powers.

Yeah, I would be lying if I said Kingdom Hearts wasn't an influence, but Kyanite's not nearly as OP as Keyblade bearers. Her portals can only transport her relatively short distances; she mainly uses it in battle to teleport behind enemies. Opening a portal to an entirely different planet would very nearly kill her.

Well, I suppose she can't be used as a substitute for Warp Pads then. Would she be able to interact better with a Warp Pad than most other gems then?
Nice though, I love KH! Also, Keybearers aren't OP, at least to me.

Nah, the warps pad work the same for her as it does with any other gem. Truthfully she has a lot of problems with her powers sometimes. She's ended up several yards away from where she intended, or even up in the air. It puts her in some awkward positions.

Thanks! I have no idea if you could actually cut a gem like that in real life, but wouldn't that be cool?
