What's her given\original name? Since she's a tea-maker\works in the tea industry, it's propably something with Tea or Leaf in it or something similiar, but that would be too obvious & she would propably like it. Maybe these are actually her initials? She could be Essentia Xaralafidia Orubehartney? (It sounds more like a W.I.T.C.H. Guardian than a pony. Or Final Fantasy. I do not think people in Winx have last names.)

But even then aren't these tea leaves in her CM so she's propably named Tea Leaf or some variant of that. Of course since she's an unicorn maybe her parents did'nt name her after a plant but a gemstone or whatever... Jade or Emerald?

Oh. So the sprout represents the ideas of the specific pony she first made the idea come to life? Which being an unicorn... I don't know? *remembers Rarity's CM story* Exo's horn directed her to some pony with a crazy idea (let's say bake a giant muffin), and Exo used magic to turn an half-burnt cake into a giant muffin? Or use magic to create the right ingredients for the giant muffin? It seems like the way each race of ponies ends up in their talent is emphatically different.
Earth Pony: Umm what do I want to do today? I don't know. Oh idea I'll eat a giant chocolate muffin with cream on top. My dad's first cousin's aunt's second cousin once removed's wife's sister married into the Chocolate Family! I'll ask her to bake me one. *some hours to one day later* OMG that chocolate muffin with cream on top was delicious. *gets chocolate muffin CM*

I don't think she had a... "crazy backstory". I think that maybe she just helped someones idea come true and then her cutiemark appeared.

Oh, so unicorn horns don't always bring their owners to something that will give their CM? Rarity might have been an outlier.
But she's also one of the few unicorns whose talent is a specific magic skill (gem finding spell) instead of a personality trait like Exo's. Twinkleshine's talent is acting, Lemon Hearts' is being loving and kind, Sea Swirl's is swimming, Lyra's is singing and playing the lyre, and Amethyst Star's is dancing. Things they don't need spells for and could propably do in the same way if they were pegasi or Earth Ponies instead. Minuette may be a singer but she has a lot like A LOT of hobbies and thus has time-manipulation magic.
And it's not so much different than Cherry Berry "It's so cheery", Shoeshine "is understanding and listens to her friends", or whatever.

No. Rarity's horn brings her to her talent. IT'S PART OF THE TALENT.
Exo has a talent personality-wise.
And I don't get why you make such a big deal out of it. There is no "real explanation", everyone has got a theory of their own.
My oc is an earthpony, but still has the ability to be one with nature/care for it. It isn't magic/personality involved. See? Everyone has a special ability. You can't compare stuff like that.

Oh, right, not all unicorns get their CM by accidentally doing magic that relates to their talent. Only the powerful ones with magic-related talents, instead of job-like abilities or personality traits.
Maybe Exo just is'nt as powerful magic-wise, as Twilight, Rarity, or Minuette.
(and ALL the earth ponies have that ability. Some just are more connected with different fruits or plants or animals.)
Maybe Exo and another OC (or BG pony) once had an idea but the other OC (let's call them Bright Flash) did'nt really want to do it, but Exo encouraged Bright Flash to do it, and they did stuff together, and thus Exo got her Cutie Mark, and then Bright Flash saw that Exo did'nt like her full name and shortened it to Exo.

Right, an unicorn with a personality-related or singing\dancing\acting-related talent, may be as powerful or even more powerful than an unicorn with magic over a specific element (including time and space) or with a talent on finding rocks or even magic itself. Just like how Fluttershy can actually go faster than Rainbow Dash it's just that flying is not as much a part of her as of RD.
Pinkie may not be capable of turning plants into unicorns, and she cannot use spells that unicorns would use to grow plants, but she has the Pinkie Sense and that fourth wall breaking thing, and is possibly as strong or stronger than AJ. She still has the connection to earth the Earth Ponies do. She's just crazier. She could potentially be able to grow a plant using that connection, it's just not what she usually does.

Right... Not. I personally don't think that any of them are "stronger". Yes, Celestia and Luna are, but they where born alicorns. Not like Toilet Spurkle or Cadence.

I said that my oc is able to grow plants really fast, and she is only a filly. She doesn't actually HAVE the talent. But she is able to do it with a necklace she has.Like "poof!".
And yes, even batponies can grow plants. But it's not just about plants. My oc's necklace does that she can talk to trees and understand them, like Flutters and her animals.
And LISTEN, will you? EVERYBODY has their OWN theories. Nothing is right/wrong.
