Description
Tutorial for painting a close-up of a Wolf (or any other furry creature).WARNING: large file. It might take a while before the tutorial shows up on your screen, so please, be patient. I was too lazy to add a preloader...
Use the buttons at the top of the tutorial to navigate through the slides. I have no idea why the text has turned out jagged and hard to read, so I apologise if you have difficulties reading it.
ARTIST'S COMMENTS
Thank you ever so much for my second DD ~AnimalLover345 and ^shelldevil !
EDIT: Due to popular demand I re-named the tutorial more appropriately "How to Paint a Wolf".
EDIT 2: Fixed all known spelling mistakes.
A tutorial I pulled together of my last Wolf piece. I don't know if it will be of help or use to anyone, but there's no harm in making one anyway! Please bear in mind that this is the first time I've drawn something this furry this close up, so I'm sure there are other ways of doing this too.
If you have any problems with viewing the tutorial or any questions or problems in general, please let me know. I'll be happy to help as much as I can
NOTE: The tutorial explains functions and options available in Adobe Photoshop CS2. Any older or newer version of Photoshop should still work just as well. I have no experience in any other digital editing program (such as GIMP or Corel Painter) so I have no idea to what extent you can follow the tutorial there. If anything, it might just give you an idea of how to draw similarly, but you will have to find out on your own I'm afraid.

hey great tutorial, it really helps me, but i cant get to understand step 4 blending the shades together, do you mean doing this with the smudge tool or how? :S
And do you do livestreams?

cerona In reply to TheFinalBlow [2011-06-22 14:34:56 +0000 UTC]
Thank you Yeah, use the eye-dropper tool to pick up colours and blend them by brushing until you get a nice even tone, or use the smudge tool and blend them like that, whichever works best for you
And no, I don't do livestreams yet at least
My computer can only just about manage photoshop with internet open at the same time, let alone recording and streaming as well

Haha yeah, I've got too much to say to fit into a short tutorial I'd rather say too much than too little though
I personally hate it when tutorials skip out lots of steps and leave you wondering "how the hell did he get from that to this?!"

yeah me too, I hate it when that happens. I'm still trying to develop my own way of fur. Haven't found one that I like yet.

You have bothered to steal! The word of honor have bothered! Why I draw it on weeks, and you simply copy to yourselves my lessons?? To me it is truth has bothered. I draw 5 years soon already 6. And I can't expose this wolf on competition how consider that it not mine. You excuse, but really it has bothered me-.-

I just wanted to say: I discovered this yesterday, and I'm sooo amazed!! Your wolf came out pretty awesome and this doesn't seem thaat hard to try so I'm trying. And I think it will help me soo much!! You're a great artist and you're good at explaining your steps, too. I probably won't even post my finished picture here but if I do I'll totally credit you, of course. But actually it's only meant to be a present for my mom.
Well, I really wanna thank you for this awesome tutorial and I'm sure it'll help me!

Thank you for your kind words β₯ I hope it was helpful to you and of course I would be happy to have a look at how it turned out if you ever did upload it, but I completely understand if you just want to keep it as a present for your mum I'm just glad that I could be of help

I love your tutorial. The wolf came out so well! Although I don't have a drawing system on my computer.
But .... I need to ask you a question.
When I was 12 and didn't have an art account I found your tutorial. Back then I still didn't have a drawing thing on my computer, so I just sketched out the wolf lineart you did for practice. I wanted to post it on deviant art. But if I do I will give all the credit to you for the original picture and put a link to your tutorial in the description.
If you say no, I won't post it. I'm totally okay with whatever you say. Just asking for permission first.
