Tempestas is one of my main characters, specifically one of my gods. Since this is kind of a major part of Godsbound (hence the title) before I get into Tempestas specifically I need to touch a bit on how my gods work (and Tiers, and a few small things). I'll try to keep this as brief as possible. You may skip this if you like. (If that's the case, go to "Tempestas!")

Tiers

Tiers refer to the four different planes of existence, each more full of magic than the last. They require magical rifts in space to traverse between them. Tier 1 is where humans live, and everything above that gets progressively more magic. Tempestas lives in Tier 2. When a being from a higher Tier goes into a lower Tier they become more powerful, and when they go higher they become weaker (magically). In other words, a god from Tier 2 would be much more powerful in Tier 1 than they would normally be in their normal Tier.

Otts

***Standard form of measurement in Tiers 2 and 3.

Gods and their Governs

Gods are highly magical and (mostly) immortal being with governs. Spelt with a lowercase ‘g’; gods are different from God (who prefers to be called "Grandad"). Ichor flows through their veins. They cannot be killed unless under very specific means, usually involving a deactivation of the magic in their blood. Gods will regenerate any organ that is necessary for them to continue living; and will not for other body parts. For example, the brain, heart, and stomach etc. are all necessary to survive; But the eyes, arms, genital organs etc. are not and will not regenerate. If they don’t need it to live, it will not come back.

*Before a god is born, Grandad takes a set of unused governs and forges them together into a Divinity. The Divinity is given a name and attached to a soul. When a god is born they will know the name of their Divinity (or their "Divine Name") as well as their governs, and it is something they cannot forget. As babies they can't necessarily process this information, but it is there. Most gods use their Divine Name as their regular name, but others opt to change it. Both situations have unique issues and benefits, but it rarely comes up at all.

In order to be classified as a god, one must have governs. One cannot have governs without also having ichor as their blood; and all beings with ichor as their blood have governs. It is impossible to have just one or the other. Because of the high magic content, Ichor is mostly the color beter (which humans cannot see) so to most it looks fuschia.

**Gods and other "ageless"  beings see "age" and "lifespan" as two different things. For example, a vampire who has lived for 10000 years but looks 10 would still be considered "young" because their body (and brain in terms of development) is still young. If you asked them their age they would still say that they're 10 years old; because they are still only 10 years old. They've been extant for 10000 years; but you wouldn't call them old.

Gods also have the unique ability to stop and start their aging process at will, like a switch. They can't go backwards, but they can resume or freeze their aging any time they want and as many times as they want. This doesn't affect hair and nail growth.

Gods must “appease” their governs, a bit like an addiction. One of the biggest challenges of being a god is navigating their governs in a way that aligns with their personality and morals. Some governs don't need to be actively "fed" compared to others, but I'll touch on that when I talk specifically about Tempestas. Which brings me to...

Tempestas!

Tempestas is a sweet guy with a lot of problems packed into that little brain of his. He's bipolar (specifically type 2) and has OCD. There's probably some other stuff rolling around in his brain but those are the big ones.

His OCD mostly revolves around time. He's never late (and when he is, it's the end of the world obviously). He keeps a meticulous track of time, and is never without a watch and feels anxious when there isn't a clock he can look at. He much prefers clocks that tick because otherwise, how do you know they're working? (That's his brain's logic, anyway). Digital clocks stress him out because he doesn't know when exactly the time will change until it does. Every room in his house has a clock (or two) in a position where you can always look at the time no matter where you are. He always keeps track of the date and can usually tell even after spending a long time underground. If you ask him what time it is, he'll tell you by the second and if you ask him the date he'll tell you the day, month, year, and day of the week and any holidays he knows of using both Tier 1 calendars and Tier 2 calendars. He'll go with the most relevant one first and keep going until you tell him to stop (unless you were more specific). Consilium learned the hard way to be more specific.

He's generally very honest, and only succeeds in lying when he's simply omitting information. Otherwise, the guilt gets to him pretty quickly. He's a terrible liar. Even when it comes to pretending he's not depressed. He can keep that one up a while until he says "I'm fine", which is often quickly followed up by "that was a lie, sorry, I lied" and so on.

He's very sensitive to other people's emotions (literally, but more on that later) and rather poor at hiding his own. He cries pretty easily and can be very quick to anger in the right (or wrong) circumstances.

He loves reading, Sci-Fi specifically. Even more specifically, he loves space. Hitchhiker's Guide is one of his favorites, and much prefers comedic or lighthearted forms of media (which unfortunately, Sci-Fi notoriously doesn't often contain). Sometimes he'll just pick up astronomy textbooks to read. For fun.

He also does math for fun. Because there's something wrong with him (affectionate).

Gabi is his favorite Animal Crossing villager, Buneary is his favorite Pokémon and Gonzo is his favorite muppet.

He's bi (or pan, to be more specific) and is in a lovely polycule with the gods Consilium and Fortuna. Their relationship is open (gods are a bit looser about this sort of thing) as long as they have ample and healthy communication. But the three of them are the main group and they'll stick together till the end. They kind of bounce a brain cell between the three of them like a ping pong ball, and Tempestas doesn't often get a turn with it. Consilium has it most of the time. Especially when Tempestas and Fortuna are together, because they kind of make each other dumber. Thank Grandad Consilium is the god of Wisdom, for everyone's sake.

He also has ten kids (eleven if you count Devan, twelve if you count one future kid, and thirteen if you count [REDACTED FOR PLOT REASONS])! Eight of those were with an ex of his (they were octuplets, oops) he still has a good relationship with them despite the breakup and helped raise them. They each took four at a time and kept swapping them back and forth until the kids were old enough to decide who they wanted to stay with and for how long. They're all adults with lives of their own now. Some... more involved than others.
One kid he has with Fortuna (her name is Amare), and two (three if you count Devan) are technically step-kids from Consilium; although he was their Alloparent before they got together. An alloparent is like an "honorary parent" that is usually mutually assigned by both the kids and the alloparent (sometimes the parent picks an alloparent when the kids are very young/babies but the kids can revoke this when they're older). Like a very close and trusted family friend or parental figure. Basically, he helped raise them before him and Consilium were together. That would be Hospes and Telum.
Devan is... a living car. She's kind of like a kid, Tempestas and Consilium both consider her a daughter so... she counts.
Amare, Telum and Hospes are all full gods; the rest are demigods and a car.

Tempestas also has an Alloma, since [REDACTED]. Basically, he doesn't have any parents. So he kind of got adopted, as an adult, by one of the primeval Eternals. Adordenone, Eternal of Rebirth and Mother of the Undead. She. Well. She's kind of like a giant bear-yak with a skull for a face and giant antlers, and eats rotting corpses?

Tempestas loves her very much and calls her Mama None (no-nay).

His favorite color is green (both Fortuna and Consilium have green eyes...) and his favorite... "food" is peanut butter. He doesn't eat entire jars of peanut butter all the time, but it's a... comfort food for him. Like how some people have bad days and get a tub of ice cream and watch movies. He eats peanut butter.

Tempestas is farsighted and has reading glasses. He also has a pipe that he smokes very occasionally (like maybe a puff every once in a while). It's got a mix of Tier 2 plants in it that are mostly supposed to make you calmer.

[And here I will talk about all (well, most) of his governs and how they affect him. Feel free to skip this part.]

Emotions

Everyone feels emotions, including Tempestas. As such, he doesn't have to do anything to keep this one "fed". When a govern is well fed, or constantly being fed, it overflows into abilities. So Tempestas has some emotion-related powers. He can tell what other people are feeling (he's an empath). It's easier for him to tell the closer he is to them and can detect the strongest emotions first. It's more difficult for him to do in Tier 2, and the more magical the being the more difficult it is for him to detect their emotions. Usually he doesn't really notice (if he was aware of it all the time, he might go insane) unless he's actively trying to read someone's emotions or if there's a clear dissonance between the way they're acting and the way they're feeling. Otherwise it fades into the background.

He also has a weird ability to swap emotional states with someone. Specifically, he can "suck" feelings out of people and project his own into them.  It's not permanent, because whatever it was that was causing them to feel whatever it was they were feeling is usually still there; and the feelings will return. Being the kind hearted person he his, he usually uses this power to make others happy. Unfortunately, that means he grabs their sadness or fear or whatever it was. He's uh, yeah.

Weather

Like emotions, weather is happening all the time. So he also gets weather powers! This is why "Storm Gods" (or just called "Storms") are usually some of the most powerful gods. Because of his Emotion govern, these two get combined a bit. In Tier 2 he's still powerful enough to affect the weather, but not powerful enough to control it very well. His emotional state is constantly affecting the weather within a few kilometer radius around him that tapers in extremity (most powerful directly above him). His hair and eyes change color according to the weather in turn. In Tier 1 he has much more control over it and can even block the magical effect weather has on his appearance (turning them back to its natural color, pictured above). This also happens in places with no possible weather (like dream worlds, for example) or if his magic is turned off somehow.

Different emotions (or even body functions) affect the weather differently. To tackle just the ones in profile:

-High body heat (blushing or even a fever from sickness) makes the weather warmer. Thankfully, he isn't a very sweaty person; but if he's especially hot and sweaty it gets humid. Since he's also the god of Temperatures (I won't give this its own category) he has minor fire powers. He can't get burned but this also means the whole combo can make his hair set on fire. It won't hurt him but it is inconvenient. And embarrassing. Which makes things worse. There isn't a whole lot that makes him flustered, thankfully. But Consilium knows.

Consilium also knows to quietly snuff any licks of fire that pop up without saying anything. Or of it's too much fire to dunk water on Tempestas' head.

-The opposite is also true, anything that would drain the color from his face makes it colder. Like fear. Wind is also connected to his breathing, so a startled gasp would cause a brief chilly gust of wind. A fun little habit he has when he's anxious is that he paces in circles.

This must be prevented at all costs if he is hyperventilating, because that can cause a tornado. We do not want Tempestas Tornados.

Very rarely (although not unheard of) he'll completely shut down from being overwhelmed and anxious and disassociate. That causes snow.

-Now if he's really really tired (or sick, or hungover) or simply just woken up, it gets foggy. The weather usually isn't affected while he's asleep (unless he's having a really vivid dream) but if he's... well... groggy it's foggy. You could say it's caused by brain fog. Heh. Heh.

-This one is easy! It rains when he cries. The rain does not start until the first tear falls, until then the rainclouds just loom menacingly overhead. The rain stops as soon as he stops crying.

If he's scared and crying, or crying because he's scared it becomes hail. If he's happy-crying there won't be many clouds so that's when you get a happy rainbow! He also cries a lot, and rather easily. Partially the depression, partially because he's the god of Emotions, and partially because he's just the kind of person who wears his heart on his sleeve. He's not ashamed of crying, although he does try to hide it in cases where he feels like he would be a burden. Unfortunately... it's not that hard to tell if he is if you're both outside.

-Lightning/electricity is mostly associated with his anger (and he can get very, very angry) but it can happen with other things as well. Typically purple electricity is with his anger. Sometimes he'll get a bit sparkly when he's frustrated, but it's usually blue. If he's also anxious (or, startled very very suddenly) it'll be yellow; but that's usually very short lived. Like if you, well, shock him; to put in a way. Don't intentionally startle him or wake him violently otherwise you might get zapped. He'll also feel bad about it, so extra don't do that.

-Otherwise, nice blue skies! Minimal clouds! Typically on a nice, neutral day his hair is a light gray and he's got nice sky-blue eyes. Some clouds, not too hot, not too cold but maybe on the colder side. No violent winds. On an especially nice day there will be only the prettiest nice fluffy white clouds and the most picture perfect weather, and maybe a bit on the warmer side.

Mischief/Trickery

Look, he's a good guy. Trickster gods are notorious assholes because Mischief is a difficult one to deal with. You have to really go out of your way to appease this one, and when gods ignore their governs it gets increasingly more difficult to handle until they kind of do the first thing that comes to mind. Like tripping someone as they pass you, for example.

Tempestas would never, ever do anything mean to someone unless he felt they really deserved it. So most of the time, he sticks to horrible dad jokes and puns. Maybe the occasional really dumb prank, or something really stupid like putting eggs in a microwave to watch them explode. But usually nothing more drastic than that.

Performance/Illusions

Also in line with Trickery, he has an odd side gig with a human alias as a magician for kids birthday parties. He occasionally does stage performances, but much prefers smaller venues in Tier 1. He also loves musicals and engaging with theatre to any capacity helps tick off that box a little as well. He owns a theatre in Tier 2 that he rents out but mostly doesn't perform there (anymore, although he used to). I'll wait for Wadrobe to discuss how his magic hats work.

[If you're still here, hooray! Yippee! There's more.]

Animals

All my gods have three animals associated with them. Tempestas has a rabbit (specifically a Flemish Giant) a Goose (the asshole kind) and a Gray Fox. He can turn into each of these animals, and can stay in those forms as long as he likes in Tier 1. In Tier 2 he has to work a bit harder to stay transformed. In addition, those animals (all rabbits, geese and foxes) are naturally more at ease around him, like him, and have a desire to be around him. Like a magnet. This doesn't cause them to be nicer or anything, they just... want to be around him. He can also talk to them and understand them.

Which is all in good fun when there's a lot of cute fluffy bunnies in the area, not so much when you're trying to have a picnic in an area with a lot of geese. There are a few odd parks in Tier 1 where the geese have mysteriously developed a taste for peanut butter.

Gods can also (although this is difficult) transform parts of themself to be their animal part (known as "part-forming"). They need a lot of magic to do this, and can usually only do it in Tier 1. All of my gods have an animal with wings, so they can all sprout wings in Tier 1 to fly with. Tempestas gets goose wings.

Tempestas is also a bit better at it than other gods (through lots of practice) so he can do something like terrorize someone by making his tongue into a goose tongue. Did you know that geese have teeth on their tongues? You're welcome!

In addition to all that he also has a few odd quirks here and there reminiscent of his different animals. For example, his laugh kind of sounds like a goose honk. He also stomps his foot when he's angry, much like rabbits do (he also clicks his heels, like bunny binkies).

Other

Speaking of feet, he has six toes on each foot. It's not really important, but he will say things like "I swear on my twelve toes" which most people just assume is a weird thing he says. He does in fact, have twelve toes.

And finally, because I couldn't really fit this in anywhere else, that hand scar of his! Normally gods heal their scars pretty fast, but this is a magic scar. Tempestas and Consilium helped an offshoot of Yggdrasil, the World Tree. Yggdrasil 2 was grateful and granted them both wishes. Tempestas' wish was pretty small ultimately, he mostly just wanted to understand himself better. I won't describe the ritual because it isn't important to his character, but ultimately it left that scar on his hand. Because his wish was so small, he only needed to use one hand and Yggdrasil said he could come back at any time for another small wish.

That's all for now! Hope it was informative. Be nice to him. He has bouts of depression. He has a cute rabbit tooth smile why would you take that away from everyone.
