Tickady boo...lol
I think i was at school (about 14 ish) when clock' orange came out, & just before they banned it, we were shown it in a social studies class & asked to comment & reveiw what we thought it was about..quite worried some of the senior staff when they realised i may have totally got what it was about right from the start. so much so i was sent to see a school headshrinker the following year who after 15 sessions declared in her report....."subject has no mental issues....in fact i found him to be quite frightingly with it" I framed that report, it was quality lol...

*grins* I'm glad you dig the illustration, I think 'Clockwork' has it's maximum impact if the viewer's a teenager. Much like 'Doom Generation' 'Nowhere' or 'Totally Fucked Up', hell, even 'SFW'. All anthems to lust and fury and moral dilemmas beneath the microscope. Granted 'Clockwork' has a great deal more than that going on, but still, I'm glad I saw it when I did otherwise I worry it wouldn't have connected.

Wow I almost never comment on art by an artist I don't know personally, but I've got to tell you your profile has got to be the most inspiring series of images I've seen. I have hit a sort of artist's block so to speak and this image, and most of your other ones have me itching to give it another go.
Thanks so much (and you're now on my deviant watch list too by the way)

Thank you for that wonderful comment, that was very thoughtlessly encouraging of you. I'm standing here w/ groggy eyes & my coffee checking through my websites and fell on this, definitely brought a smile to my face.
Thank you & Wow back at you

The Joker, the Butcher, and Johnny Ringo alongside that maniac Alex?! This is genius! The interesting thing about this collection of villains is that they'd probably fight each other.
For example, the Joker likes chaos while the Butcher prefers order (but maintains it, ironically, by creating chaos).

It's good to be appreciated, thanks for the recognition.
It's definitely a collection of mismatched kindred spirits, role models so to speak *grins*
Take care man.

You know what's weird? I find WallE to be just as much a muse of me as the Joker! What does that mean? Maybe I'm bipolar.

you"re awfully welcome!
i"ve been bouncing around too much, and require a good dose of lazily hanging out with friends and girlfriend.
i came back from germany last monday, stayed at home in Virginia for three days, went to my dad"s in maryland, stayed there for 6 days, and now--I'm in frackin' Massachusetts.

its always awesome when you find something that can push your inspiration up to full force, even if it is only for a day or so. This piece came out incredibly, and definitely has your personality written all over it. Ringo came out photo quality! I love your choices. One of these days I need to get around to seeing clockwork orange. Needless to say I think you p0wned the muse contest.

Weeeeelll... I wouldn't recommend a clockwork orange honestly. Though it is inarguably Kubrick's masterpiece, it purposefully uses brutal visuals to convey the 'morals' (not sure if that word's entirely appropriate in this particular instance) of the story.
*ALOT* of things would piss you off about that movie. So if you watch it, I totally gave you fair warning.

Wow....I'm a so very impressed by this piece. I know everyone seems to like the Joker the best, but I think, face wise, he's the most accurate. I can't believe how much your art has improved over the years...it's...SO. VERY. GOOD.

stellar work my friend. i must say that it is worth a runner-up prize possibly. firstly i must speak with the award committee.
but as for the advanced critiques (like i am often known to do) they are thus...
Bill the butcher has a slight issue with his face. i think it may have been the picture you used as stock, but his jaw is distorted. like his jaw is a 3/4 shot (the ones with the person looking slighty to the side) but the rest of his face is looking right into the camera. so the jaw would be fine if the rest of the face followed. but like i said, it could be a problem with the image you worked from. i've had that problem a few times myself. (it's so tough working with just two colors sometimes...)
the other issue i have with it is Alex. i haven't seen the movie in years to be honest (my view in such movies has changed radically with my life...) but it's a little off as well. i think that this is a problem with the jaw as well. he looks a little too overweight for Alex. if i remember well, he was kinda skinny. that's why it was cool that he beat the shit out of his croonies. and his lips are just a little off. the shape isn't quite right. and the jaw i just noticed is due to the way that Jonny Ringo's head covers up the transistion, and it makes his jaw look chubby. but once more it's probably the photo and not the illustrator.
but as for good things, they are all fantastic likenesses. i really love Jonny Ringo. (though i always had a fonder place for ol' Doc) and the joker, opposed to what you said is spot on. and you and your backgrounds... wow. that's all i can say. marvelous piece over all.

For Mr. William Cutting I can halway call the stock piece the fall-guy, since it was at the angle you mentioned- but really its my job to make wierd angles come through naturally, so ultimately that's 'my bad' :-P At the same time, though strange, I don't really mind the 'off'ness of his face, I think it matches the character well (he is very likely my #1 favorite out of the bunch, though that's *really* difficult to say).
I have *alot* of issues w/ how I drew Alex, I think the shading is off, his nose isn't right, and his smile is definitely not right. I can see what you're saying about the chin and you nailed that one spot on, its due to Ringo covering up the transitional space for the curve/line of his cheek/chin. Though Mr. McDowell was a skinny youth Alex wore a tight almost roman collor w/ his Drogey uniform & that pushes up his cheek & makes wrinkles that could be percieved as fat wrinkles or double/triple chins if his skinny 'ole body isn't included in the illustration- I think I should've just left those out since the body obviousely isn't depicted. Narf, live & learn right?
Jonny Ringo I am 1,000,000% pleased with... I honestly can't believe he came out as well as he did. In my opinion he's the best thing I've done artistically so far, & that's kinda a funny subject to ace hehe but whatev Yeah, originally I had planned on it being Holiday in the character slot for this illustration and not Ringo, but then I thought hard about it & really -to me, Ringo is the emphasis and punctuation of the Holiday character & Doc wouldn't really be too much without him. Ringo is the ultimate gunslinger, he sold his soul to the devil to be the fastest draw, he has adamantium testicles & never backs down from a fight & is unarguably the most lethal force on the planet at that time. Yet still Doc Holiday not only steps directly in the path of Ringo's firearm, but when they're dueling he shoots the bastard spot-on in the head instead of going for the quick/easy bodyshot just to prove how absolutely unconcerned he is with Jonny Ringo. That's just beast. Personality wise Ringo is everything Doc Holiday could have become if Wyatt hadn't come into his life... knowing that was pretty harrowing as well. Plus in a piece full of villains, the anti-villain o' good ole Doc just didn't quite fit.
The Joker I dig, I think any innacuracies or f-ups I did with his face worked out for the best and just made him look even more scarred & terrifying.
Thanks man, as always
P.S- this likely isn't the last of my movie character pieces as I enjoyed this one maybe a little *too* much. So I'm sure Mr. Holiday will be making a showing in here sometime
Runner up prize = STD?

well don't be so hard on yourself. pictures will be pictures. and i can be a bit of a picky bastard. but that's what you wanted.
but i agree with you on the Doc point. it would have ruined the whole theme and i'm glad that you did it the way that you did. but keep up the good work, and just don't become a "Draw your charicture" person.
they are horrible people.
