Description
Alsou, the singer popular in Russia (I really like her English language ballad Teardrops as well as some other stuff by her, btw.)The scan really stunk, so I have now replaced it with a photo from my digital camera. I Made a second replacement with a shot that has more even lighting from flash instead of very low angle sun which left a slight shadow to one side and showed the paper texture a bit too well. I think the white balance is more accurate with this shot as well, although the warm tones of the sun shot were kind of pleasing.
Here is my first new work in a few months. This is my third colored pencil portrait altogether, although the first one was over twenty years ago and only had color added to a mostly graphite drawing, while the second was "Catherine" at the end of last year. This was done with Prismacolor pencils, which are very different from the watercolor pencils I used for "Catherine." They seem very waxy to me and sometimes I started to feel like I was using crayons.
Remind me never to try to do something that requires precise detail work like the jewelry in this picture with these colored pencils again. It is very difficult to be precise with them. I picked up some Prismacolor Verithins while I was working on this, and they helped some, but I had already done a significant amount of the jewelry (like the chain, which came out very badly), so much of the jewelry is kind of fudged.
Materials:
Prismacolor Premier and Verithin colored pencils
.5 mm graphite mechanical pencil with Papermate HB lead (for outlining and some detail)
Hard and soft kneaded rubber erasers
Factis extra soft vinyl eraser
Pink Pearl eraser
Canson Bristol paper 100 lb. (This paper claims to be smooth, but it's not really smooth).

Thank you. I discovered her through discussion on forums similar to this one on the Internet, actually.
