Snailkit grew up being the only kit to his parents Hawkleap and Amberfeather. His parent weren't particularly doting of him but were proud of their little survivor. Growing up, Snailkit had a tendency to get sick very easily. There were quite a few instances where his parents didn't think he'd make it but thankfully starclan spared him. He grew up pretty weak compared to other kits and he was often teased about his smaller size. He would get very defensive and angry, sometimes fighting with the other kits in hopes of proving his strength. Amberfeather was always calm and collected, trying to let Snailkit solve his own problems and not getting involved unless it was absolutely necessary. Some called Hawkleap an absent father, but Snailkit just assumed he was working hard to support the clan. Truth be told, Hawkleap was slightly disappointed in his son. He had always wanted a strong kit to continue his legacy and Snailkit was weak and frail, barely half the size of the other kits in the nursery. Snailkit remained none the wiser though, and was just happy to have his mother to play with.

apprenticeship [ 6 - 13 moons ] >
Snailpaw was less than excited to get his mentor Reedstalker. Not only was the tom a total stick in the mud, but he rarely ever gave Snailpaw actual praise so doing things correctly. He always felt like he had to be better than the other apprentices in order to push himself, and would try countless stupid attempts to get praise from any warrior. It was relentless that Snailpaw would end up with minor injuries. From thorns in his paws to a more serious sprained paw, Snailpaw was constantly told he was clumsy and although the teasing was good-hearted, it stung more when the apprentices would point out his failures. Feeling like he was falling behind, Snailpaw started becoming reserved and more quiet, deciding that he was already a failure and would never grow to be as strong as the other apprentices. One morning, his mentor took him out into the territory alone. Snailpaw was sure he'd get a lecture about his failure as an apprentice and that somehow, Reedstalker would just give up on him or maybe even abandon him as his apprentice. As they sat down next to each other, Reedstalker explained that some plants bloom and different times, or take longer to grow strong. He said, "The weeds and brambles may grow faster, but it is the trees that grow the strongest. Strength takes time, it cannot be rushed. You cannot force a tree to grow." From then on, Snailstep and Reedstalker would take time slowly perfecting his skills. When Snailpaw was 9 moons old, his father died of greencough. Amberfeather was devistated, but Snailpaw didn't feel much for his father's death as the tom was simply absent for most of his life, thought he had hoped to impress his father with his warrior ceremony. His training lasted a moon longer than his peers, but he wasn't sad or resentful for remaining an apprentice for longer. Snailpaw was 13 moons old when he finally received his Warrior name, and he couldn't have been more proud of himself or more thankful to his mentor.

Snailstep has spent his moons as a Warrior trying his hardest to contribute as much as possible to his clan. He is extremely proud of his clan and their strength, and believes whole-heartedly in his and his fellow clan-mates abilities. He's spent the past few moons giving his all to his clan and visiting his mother in the Elder's den. Snailstep just hopes to gain his first apprentice soon, so that he can pass the knowledge Reedstalker gave him onto another young cat.
