Description Part of a hack I am working on which is basically what Sonic CD would look like if "Ancient" (the company who created Sonic 1 SMS and GG) developed a version for the Master System.

MISTAKES: The top right corner doesn't have a "lives remaining" number.

So, are you still working on this? There is so much potential for it. Since Sonic 1 has a lot of unused space, and an unused antigravity feature, you could truly turn this into something amazing. Antigrav in Metallic Madness would be way past cool! I think the idea of tileswitching for time zones would work well, though some Rounds may need completely different tilesets (especially TIdal Tempest). Do you plan any original Zones for this, like Sonic 1 GG/SMS did?

Yep, still working on it. All of the level tile sets and 32×32 blocks have been created (not imported into the game, but I have managed to test one of them in game without any issues), just working on the music at the moment, I've created 22 of the songs so far.

In terms of new zones like the GG/SMS Sonic 1, I'm considering it, but it depends on the space left over, after-all it's roughly 4 times the amount of tiles, block mappings, music and level layouts per zone (which where the massive unused space comes into play). My plan was to do tile switching as you've stated, but I need to try and figure out how the code actually works in game, I'm going to need to add some flags which also keep object positions etc. when you change time zones.

I wasn't aware there was anti gravity in the game, is it shown or documented somewhere?

Think it was in an article in the forums of Sonic Retro. For the flags, it would likely save your X/Y coordinates momentarily.
I guess (hypothetically) it could go like this:

F-monitor broken.
Check time period.
If in Past, go to Present
Check player coordinates
Cordinates X = 00/ Y = 00
Load Zone 1-1A
(A is Present for Acts 1 and 2, and A is good future for Act 3, while B is past in Acts 1 and 2, and B is bad future for Act 3.)
Starting position at X in Zone 1-1A
Player Starting point at coordinate X =00/ Y = 00.

Since everyone hates Wacky Workbench, I thought you could make that the antigrav zone versus constant jumping, or use Desert Dazzle instead. I may have the tiles and chunks still if you like. You'll prolly need to simplify the background as well as the plants to give more of an Ancient-style look.

Bosses are gonna be the hardest to program of all, and new objects as well.
