You have a very different vision than me for back when Sonic: Project Aspect was going to basically be a Sonic CD port to Master System. While I went for trying to get everything as close to the SEGA Mega CD version's graphics as possible, yours is trying to stick to the style Ancient would have used. It is wonderful looking, and I am looking forward greatly to see progress on your hack.
