Something from Rainbow Rocks (which has been vectorized previously by masemj and thus I had to think of a totally-and-completely different title), ponified.

This probably has the smallest overall proportion of traced elements of everything I've ever produced, however I can't actually say whether or not that says a lot or means anything. Not much, I presume. But, it's a lot more fun, though more tedious to work by looking at a reference as opposed to outright tracing something and thus being confined to a certain standard. Is this what being an actual artist is supposed to feel like? Though, the fact I'm writing this on an upload of a pony vector that was still traced heavily to match an art style probably renders it meaningless.

Though, what wasn't something I that scratched my head a lot over from designing was either traced outright or otherwise worked from one of eleven reference images used. If not that, then it was recycled from a past work or resource, though I tried not to do this too much, and would rather re-draw the same things in case I ever got better at vectoring or better reference material became available since producing it previously. That being said, this is probably something I'm more proud at this moment of than most of what I've done previously. Oddly. Although, when I started I didn't have too much problem imitating how human Flash Sentry has his arms positioned when drawing pony Flash's forelegs, but that became meaningless when I drew the jacket over them, and thus they went unnoticed. The not-jacket version at least shows this part effectively. Or so I hope it does.

So, the other Saturday I watched Rainbow Rocks at a local theater with zero expectation whatsoever, neither high nor low ones, however you refer to it. I watched the shorts which were separate from the movie but gave a sense of premise, something the first movie lacked (with the movie being released before the comic My Little Pony Annual 2013, which was meant to serve as a prequel according to Andy Price at a BABSCon 2014 IDW panel), but I didn't watch any of the sneak peeks, so on that regard I watched it stone cold. I think there was a novel too or something. Anyway, human Flash makes a pose like this in his first scene which I thought was adorable, though for some reason I thought to ponify it.

The movie exceeded my expectations, mostly because I tried not to have any to begin with, although I did enjoy it outright since I'm usually optimistic and easily impressed by things like this. (Though, that isn't to say there isn't the other extreme for that, but that applies to other things.) In fact, I got the soundtrack (which was released well prior to the movie's release for some reason) following attending the screening and have listened to many of the songs since, including while I was making this. Pleasantly surprised with the whole thing.
